Creepy...

Creepy, creepy, creepy,....did I mention creepy. One of Mr. Carpenters best. I fine job of uniting the unlikely components of religion and quantum mechanics. Few horror movies give me the willies, but this one did,

Wow

Rowan Atkinson talks in this movie for a change! It's one of the best comedies ever. This time, mr.Bean is a caretaker at Royal National Gallery. As a matter of fact he's a sleeper as he sleeps all day long at his work place. Since the chairman adores mr.Bean instead of getting him fired he sends mr.Bean to U.S.A. This is where the trouble begins...:)
A must see movie

The Wild Bunch 30th Anniversary Issue: Honoring the Greatest

"The Wild Bunch," Sam Peckinpah's masterpiece, deserves being honored. So much has been made of Peckinpah's code of volience, using slow-motion to make death even more excrutiating on the screen, but many have missed the passion and poetry Peckinpah has put into this film. It has one of the greatest casts assembled for a western. Wiliam Holden, Ernest Borgnine, Robert Ryan, Edmund O'Brien, Ben Johnson(one of the great all-time cowboy actors) Warren Oates and Jaime Sanchez are a complex, humorous bunch, even though Ryan, once one of bunch, is sprung from prison to "dog" the bunch and with his rag-tag bunch of bounty hunters, the dregs of the west, he wishes out loud that he were with the bunch. The battles, especially at the beginning and end of this film, are famous and much imitated but not equaled. Yet in between, we get to intimately know this bunch, in a wondferfully shot scene in the villiage of Angel, who was born there, and the villigers know this bunch are bandits but treat them with respect all the same and the send off, when the bunch rides slowly off, being given gifts like flowers or a sombrero, is as moving a scene as you'll see in any movie. Peckinpah loves Mexico and cinematographer Lucien Ballard has captures the dusty, brightly lit exspanses, the sounds of the river crossings, and the deep rust and ochre of the canyons and the arroyos. This film is a poem to the end of the romantic West, a poem of regret, and also a celebration of the joys of being alive. Every frame is full of vitality and kinetic energy. And the battles. Yes they are bloody and Peckinpah wants to show really what it is like to lose one's life, painful and stunning. The last battle is one of the classic battles in any genre in history, for it seems to go on forever, yet count the minutes-it really doen't last that long but each moment a ballet of violence and action and death. Peckinpah made other wonderful westerns like "Ride the High Country," which follows some of the same themes of "getting too old for our guns," and regret for a lost West passing into legend. No one cronicled that rite of violent passage better than Sam Peckinpah in "The Wild Bunch." It is a film to be treasured for much more than its violence, a film that is on my ten top films of all time. Today, Peckinpah's vision speaks volumnes, that so many have tried his methods but lacked his passion not just for violence as an end in itself, but how he identified with the people of the West, how they learned to live in a harsh land, live and die, stubbornly sticking to a personal code of dignity. It is another film that sends ripples far beyond its genre, risking so much but paying off with one of the most bravura pieces of film-making ever made. May it glow by southwest firelight for another thirty years and beyond for those who love great story telling.

Glorious Movie____________________________________________

I thought this was a great movie, even "glorious". The film made you think about war in itself, it did not make it something it isn't, but it still made the viewer feel the importance of it. In every sense the movie was realistic, historically and emotionally. I mean this in that it is an accurate account of the Civil War, but more importantly, it didn't go overboard in the dramatics; "Glory" let the viewer experience the feelings that it tried to convey perfectly. This was achieved with a great cast, beautiful cinematography, and sweeping sound and music. My critique for this movie would be that it (although it might sound crazy) should have been a bit longer, go further into character, and build a little more towards the final battle. The acting was all around good, I felt the movie brought out some of the better performances from each of them. I did rate the movie as a five star, but really it is more like 4 and 4/5 (I have yet to see a perfect film). As for it not getting the due amount of awards at the Oscar's or whatever, I have seen the other movies, and it was a real mistake to give the awards to those over this movie. Overall, "Glory" was not just a great Civil War movie, but a great achievement as a film all by itself._________________________________ __________

A strangely satisfying ending

While many people said that this movie introduced nothing new and was nothing more than a poor recap of the first 2 movies, I htought that this was one of the best movies of the year. What people don't realize is that this is a very philosophical movie. Look at Neo and Smith for example. Neo sacrifices himself to rid the martix of Smith. Looking into the bible, it was Christ who sacrificed himself to cleanse the world of sin. Many of the characters have different meanings. The Merovingian for example represents Satan. Watch what button Morpheus presses in the elevator the leads to his club. It says "HELL". Even looking at it from a computer standpoint, Neo let Smith infect him so the machines could lock on and destroy Smith. Thats how a computer destroys a virus. If you haven't seen this movie or the trilogy, watch them. I guarentee if you look into some philosophical books and study some computer procedures you will realize just how brilliant these movies truly are.

THE FUNNIEST HORROR MOVIE I'VE EVER SEEN!!!

WOW!
Troll 2 is the BEST bad movie I have ever had the pleasure of watching. The best part about it is that it NEVER GETS OLD! I have probably watched it 10 times, and I just keep noticing funnier things every viewing. Also it has the best line ever in a movie: GRANDPA SETH (to Joshua): "Joshua, don't let them eat! FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, DON'T LET THEM EAT!"

An instant classic. (Once it's aged 20 years!)

One-of-a-kind

I was so happy to see Newsradio finally released on DVD. I am a big fan of the mix of subtle humor and slapstick that makes it so funny, Phil Hartman was a master of both and is sorely missed. The first and second seasons are especially fun to watch the cast find their timing and chemistry, even the set changes. Dave Foley is one of the funniest guys around and Stephen Root was awesome as Jimmy James (the guy so nice they named him twice). There are so many laughable moments - like any time Matthew fell down, Joe blew something up, Beth snapped her gum, and an entire episode about Bill McNeil getting stalked by Santa Claus. Even the guest stars are unreal - John Ritter, Bebe Newirth, Janeane Garafalo and George Hamilton for starters. Add insightful (and hilarious!!) commentaries on a majority of the episodes and a hilarious blooper reel and this set is a must-own!!

Been there!

As a former Napoleon Dynamite of my junior high and first two years of high school, I find this movie hysterical! For anybody who tried so hard to be cool (especially around your family) and look back now and cringe at the way you acted, you should get a kick out of this movie. Be advised, the humor is very dry...nothing like the comedy you find in Adam Sandler or Ben Stiller movies. Another huge bonus is that it is family friendly and people of all ages seem to enjoy it.
