Completely Awesome

This Is The Best Jet Li Flic I've Seen and I can't wait to get it in DVD. The Music is good, and the Action is incredible for a low budget film. I reccomend any martial art movie fan to not only see it but buy it. It's tight.

Looking at a genius at work

Although I very much admire Keith Jarrett's volume of work in performing solo improvisational piano concerts, I have never had the opportunity to see him in person. This DVD is, I suppose, the next best thing. When Jarrett plays, he does not sit passively at the keyboard. Instead, he literally throws his entire body into the effort, alternately standing and sitting and sometimes nearly crouching, his expression an ever-changing mask of fierce engagment with the music he is making. This DVD is a remarkable look at a remarkable musician.

My Life, My Life, My Life.

I just got done watching "Anywhere But Here",litterally about 2 min. ago, and I knew I had to write a review ofsome sort. This movie I can relate to so much. A few things aredifferent though like I am male, I moved from the westcoast to the eastcoast, and I don't have such a crazy mother, but aside from those few differences this movie is my life soooooooo much. I highly recommend this movie to everyone out there it is a very touching and deep movie, but not too deep. I think Suzan Sarandon did a "elegant" performance as Ann's (Natalie Portman) mother. She has the look same as Natalie P. and she plays a great crazy mother :) As for Natalie Portman, she is the most talented and versitile young actress on the face of this planet (throw in a few extra planets if it makes you feel better) she has such a great look she can look 14 (in the beginning of the movie) or 18 (at the end or the movie), and her acting ablity is "off da chain". She had just the right expressions and emotions, not too much and not too little, to get even me to shed a tear or 1,000 (I never cry, except for Simon Birch but come on who didn't). All around this movie is GREAT! It has it all, it is hilarious, it is very emotional, and it can drive you nuts :) I LOVED IT!

It's a great movie

Harlan Ellison wrote the best review of this movie that I've read yet. In it, he stated, "The first part of this movie is boring, but not uninteresting." HA! If you're looking for a plot, go somewhere else. This movie overwhelmed me the first time I saw it; my only regret is that I've never seen it on the big screen. I can't say that everyone who watches this film will love it, but if you do, it will be on your "Top 10" list for life.

Okay, so it's not perfect

I just bought this DVD yesterday, despite all the negative technical reviews. I was happy to see that it was indeed the same workout I had on VHS a few years ago that I loved. I did those tapes for 1.5 months, without changing the way I ate, and lost five pounds and dropped a dress size. Okay, so I also had to build up to it for a few weeks, but the results were phenomenal.

Unfortunately, I stopped due to going back to school. NOT because the workout was boring. His energy is contagious! Really, if I had kept going, I would have been a size 4 by now.

I think that if you can run a mile you can do this workout straight through. Even if you can run farther, as certain long distance runner's reviews say, this workout will still challenge all of your muscles for a great workout.

I say, even if you are not quite up there, you should still get advanced and take marching-breaks or only do half, so that you have something to work towards. Much more of an expandable workout that way.

Okay, so the technical issues. Back when I did this all the time, I mirrored him and did the reverse of what he is saying. I don't think that women really have to worry about bulking up unevenly from this workout not being even on both sides. These issues are not too much of a problem, given the results.

I think that Shelley, who others complain about, is an inspiration. She is like the Matrix meets reality. I see her and strive to be like that. I don't think she's annoying at all, but instead she drive me to try just a little harder...

This workout gave me the same weight loss results I got from running 4 to 5+ miles straight per day. (This was last year around this time. I'm really good at picking up exercises, getting good, and dropping them.) Plus, I didn't have the urge to consume entire pizzas, which kinda grossed me out about running that much...

It really does tone while it melts fat. That sounds so silly, but it's true. I can't wait to get back to it (have to get home first), and lose a few!!

Great movie for all "kids"

This is a great movie in that everyone in my family enjoys it. My eight year old daughter likes the adventure and the romance, my wife the romance (she walks around calling me "farmboy" now) and me the gentle fun it pokes at adventure movies plus great sword fights and great quotes ("My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die."). Oh yes, and there is added benefit of looking at Robin Wright and Cary Elwes for an hour and a half (depending on your gender and orientation). Not that I'm shallow or anything. The only warning might be that some of the scenes might be a little intense for younger viewers. My daughter has to fast forward through a couple of them.

A superb film

After having read many of the illuminative posts on this film I feel compelled to keep my comments here short as many of my positive thoughts on this film have already been touched upon.
I simply want to state that "Nixon" is a superb film, an intriguing, contentious interpretation of American history which, in my humble opinion, will eventually be understood as a classic.
What can be said that has not been said except that Stone's analysis of his title character is potent, touching, and altogether surprising. Stone does not vilify Nixon, but characterizes Nixon as a fundamentally good individual who is eventually corrupted by the trappings of power and that when Nixon falls it is tragic for all the positive that has gone unfulfilled. Nixon is presented as a three dimensional character and the film challenges us to weigh the evils committed against the expanse of Nixon's life. What emerges is an intriguing problematic: judgement is problematized.
Stone has done a fascinating thing, for every potently evil Nixon moment we are given moments of pain, humility, and moral strength and an impression (the Jack Jones scene) that Nixon had the potential, as a Republican, to stand up and confront the extreme right wing elements of the American political landscape. Stone implies that some sort of radical moment was at hand in American history, a moment that Nixon undermined by his own actions.
Nixon is a complex, long, and ultimately confrontational film. Stone has made the best sort of cinematic biography, one that challenges your views regardless of what they are politically.
