Classic Zeppelin DVD

The Led Zeppelin DVD that came out in 2003 is one of the Top 5, if not the best classic rock DVD to come out in 2003. Much to good ol' Cranky Reviewer a/k/a Mr Cranky's dismay, Led Zeppelin's DVD is a must and buries any Duran Duran garbage. I have not seen a better music DVD than this. The first disc is almost a complete show of theirs from 1970 at London's Royal Albert Hall and features classic readings of Dazed and Confused, What Is and What Should Never Be, Moby Dick, Whole Lotta Love and many otehrs. Disc two has leftover concert footage from their Song Remains the Same concert film plus killer versions of Stairway to Heaven and In My Time of Dying from Earl's Court in 1975 and footage of Zep's last British shows at Knebworth in 1979 with a funked Whole Lotta Love, a killer Kashmir and a kick-ass In the Evening. Jimmy Page did a great job restoring these concert films and mixing the sound which is how music concert DVDs should be. The off-shoot live album How The West Was Won is great too. Not only do I recommend this DVD but it should be a part of your music DVD collection.

Still moves me.

I first saw this movie in the late 80's as a late, late show. I then took 12 months of looking in every book store to find a copy of the book. I was young and lost. This movie spoke to me and told me it was alright to feel the things I felt. I have just watched it again and it still talks to me. I shared tonight's experience with my husband and close friends. They did not understand my feelings for the movie but still enjoyed it. I am now going to read the book again (I lost the book twice and had to hunt to purchase two more copies!) I am also waiting in anticipation of the DVD release.

Watch it and be moved!

Wonderful performances and breathtaking photography

This movie is for all of us who are constantly complaining about movie adaptations of our favorite books. It is almost word for word what Jane Austin intended. A must see.

Terrific Movie

Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country is the ultimate triumph for Kirk and his crew. It is my second favorite movie after Star Trek II. The movie really does go where no man has gone before. Nicolas Meyer did an excellent job directing the movie. Not only does the movie have some excellent quotes, but the dinner with the Klingons shows the distrust between StarFleet and the Klingons. Not only that, but the whole movie has an excellent idea. It stresses that change is inevitable. I would recommend this movie to everyone.

A real eye opener. For those of us who grew up with the cold war and fears of Communist Propaganda this is a must see. It offers a critical view of our television news media.

Great Memories

Wow, I am so excited that this movie is coming out on DVD. I grew up watching this movie and loved it-I played the VHS till it wore out. It was made in the 80's so the effects aren't like they are now days, but that's the good part. It's a movie that I want to share with my kids!

Another great job by Pioneer

Fushigi Yuugi(a Mysterious Play), is surely one of the best anime titles out on the market to date. It is an intricately woven story of love and friendship. Of course, a love story can never be without a love triangle. The story brings together elements of laughter, sorrow, hatred, and pity. Even though the story seems aimed for more of a Shojo or young girls audience(15+), it touches each and everyone of us. This title is a definate buy. Yuu Watase has given us one of her best, and we shall always cherish it as one of the best.

Hope put on the edge...

Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers is the second part of the trilogy, which is a a superb transition between the The Fellowship of the Rings and the future The Return of the King. The begining is rather fragmented and it resembles the moment of losing hope that the broken fellowship is sensing. Frodo is off on his quest with Sam trying to find a way into Mordor to destroy the ring while they are being stalked by Gollum. In a different direction, Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli are trying to hunt down the uruk-hai and orcs that have kidnapped Merry and Pippen. Meanwhile, Saruman is sending troops into Rohan and someone is clouding the thoughts of Rohan's King. Many different subplots emerge and they all seem to lead towards one common threat, the evil within Mordor. The Two Towers deals with many different issues such as immorality, love, compassion, hope, and many more in a very real manner while the looming war is drawing nearer.
