Classic Pavement

You really get your money's worth with this DVD. The documentary is funny and informative, the concerts are classic, the music videos are awesome and the commentary which the band provides for them is hilarious. This collection is a treasure, and it only made me love Pavement even more. We need to see more bands putting out this kind of thing.

I loved it! My favorite movie so far!

Like one of the other reviews of this movie, it's like someone took a slice of my life and made a movie from it. I only wish that the ones of us in this real-life situation could be as strong and forward moving as 'Nina' was. It was a great movie and I strongly recommend it to everyone.

funny show

I love 'Curb', I thikn it's the cleverest and funniest sit-com the americans have. It's beautifully crafted, the way the plots work around each other and build up to the big punchline at the end. The show's improvised, so the dialogue isn't full of cheesy team-built one liners that show the vapid hollowness of most american sit-coms (friends, etc. I don't get why, whenever i read reviews of Curb, people always go on about how acidic and unpleasant Larry David is. To me, he's the normal one. He finds himself in a shallow, superficial, have a nice day world he doesn't understand, and squirms and struggles to get through (as any normal person would). I love the way he always starts out trying to do the right thing, like putting an obit of an aunt in the paper, and gets into problems from it. Every good deed is punished. The characters are petty, and cowardly, and basically human. I think the comedy's very british, which is a good thing. Larry David is a comedy genius.

Meat Loaf: Bat Out Of Hell, Treasure From Heaven

This video is a true treasure, the insights from Meat Loaf, Todd Rundgren, Karla DeVito, Ellen Foley, Jim Steinman, and others lend a whole new depth to the reality of this very important piece of musical history. Meat lovers everywhere will thoroughly enjoy this look behind the curtain. Meat had it then, he's still got it now, he'll never stop rockin'!

Stephen Chow The King of Comedy

Terrific! I saw this movie 2 times and I really think is a GREAT movie... you have a lot of fun but also some dramatic moment... well, drama is in Stephen's way, so you can imagine... To really appreciate this movie you have to watch it in chinese; anyway, you can't watch a Stephen Chow's film in any other language or you will miss the best! The movie is also filled with cool special effects... totally worth the money!
And no wonder that for this movie Stephen won for Best Director, Best Actor and Outstanding Young Director at the 21st Annual Hong Kong Film Awards.
Stephen Chow is so hot!

What the Bleep Do We Know!? - movie DVD cover picture
Wolf in Ramtha's Clothing

For some reason I had to give this product 5 stars in order for my review to get printed - hmmmmm... now on to my real review:

Part nonsense/part propaganda, "What the Bleep Do We Know," is 90 corny and creepy minutes of pure horse manure. If I read another review mentioning the "science" in this thing, I'm going to wretch. There's about as much science to this piece of cr@p as an episode of Star Trek. Actually, there's a lot more science to an episode of Star Trek...

Its a pretty sad statement of the times if people in our culture need to find meaning in life from a charlatan who claims to channel the 35,000 year old spirit of a cromagnon warrior from Atlantis.

THIS is what I what I know- WTBDWK is a 90 minute indoctrination piece for the cult of Ramtha - a bunch of frauds that took a page right out of the book of the Scientologists and Moonies on how to make a fortune and build an empire by preying on the unsophisticated, unintelligent, and weak-minded. New Age con-artists of the 21st Century.

J.Z. Knight, the "leader," claims that she is Ramtha's channel. She also owns the copyright to Ramtha and conducts sessions in which she pretends to go into a trance and speaks Hollywood's version of Elizabethan English in a guttural, husky voice.

She has thousands of followers and has made millions of dollars performing as Ramtha at seminars ($1,000 a crack) and at her Ramtha School of Enlightenment, and from the sales of tapes, books, and accessories (Clark and Gallo 1993). She must have hypnotic powers. Searching for self-fulfillment, otherwise normal people obey her command to spend hours blindfolded in a cold, muddy, doorless maze. In the dark, they seek what Ramtha calls the `void at the center.'

What the Bleep serves as one of the most commercially successful hoaxes of 2004 - and probably of the 21st Century. Watch it if you must, but you should really do yourself and get the facts on the cult of Ramtha and JZ Knight first.

Lexx Series 2 Volume 5 - movie DVD cover picture
Lexx at its best

This is brilliant and imaginative sci fi at its best. Funny, fast paced and wierd all at the same time. It is not your conventional tv show but maybe that is one of the things that makes it stand out. In the web, probably the weakest episode of the 4, the Lexx crew is abandoning the galaxy to escape Mantrid. With numerous clips borrowed from the episode The Net, you might feel a bit jipped when you watch it. But don't worry, the next episode, briggadoom, is one of the most clever and enjoyable hours of tv ever aired. If you liked the Buffy musical then you will love this. The music in it is much better and it was produced 3 years before Buffy made her attempt on the mic. On to Brizon, definately one of the more disturbing episode of Lexx. It also is one of the funniest ones to. The guy who played Brizon is absolutely creepy and he has a verbal spar with Mantrid that made me almost pee my pants. It is a definate gem. An then finally, on to the one that we had been waiting for all year, The End of the Universe. The Lexx's showdown with Mantrid. It is everything that makes Lexx great. A definate season stopper that also happened to put an end to the light zone, their universe. The long build up did not disapoint at the climax and if you are a Lexx fan and have yet to see these episodes, then get a move on. You will watch them over and over

One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest - movie DVD cover picture
Funny Farm

Director Milos Forman's 1975, multiple Oscar winning adaptation of Ken Kesey's, best selling novel of "Cuckoo's Nest", is a film that everyone needs to see at least once. I believe that the best way to appreciate the film is by viewing the double disc DVD set.
Small time crook Randle Patrick McMurphy (Jack Nicholson) is a bit of an anarchist. In order to avoid jail time, he is instead, sent to the state mental hospital. Upon his arrival, he imediately turns order into chaos, with his demands that patients deserve better treatment. He butts heads with almost every member of the hospital staff. However, his one true nemesis at the hospital is the wickedly cool, Nurse Mildred Ratched (Louise Fletcher). If there were no other cast members were in the film, but Nicholson and Fletcher, it would still work--they are that good together Fortunately though, the rest of the cast in the film is also top notch, Danny DeVito, Christopher Lloyd (in his film debut), and Brad Dourif, add many unforgettable moments. The movie has drama, comedy, and bitting social satire. One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, is among Nicholson's best roles and is not to be missed.
The special features for the set include a fully remasterd print using original elements (the film looks great by the way). There's a 48 minute retrospective documentary, that has all key cast (except Jack) and crew, sharing their thoughts about the film and the making of it. As for the audio commentary track, Forman and producers, actor Michael Douglas and Saul Zaentz, repeat some stuff from the documentary. But overall, it does a good job, and takes us through the film's evolution. Finally, there are a handful of deleted scenes, some of which are quite good, and are great to see. The Cuckoo's Nest special edition DVD is a must own for anyone's film collection
