Classic 80's nostalgia - must have!

Among the original budget T&A comedies. This was one popular flick when it came out - now it's nearly forgotten! Hollywood and Blockbuster Video didn't have it, college-age employees never heard of it, so I went out and bought it on special order.... ..Sheeeesh! This awesome movie boasts Duran Duran's "Hungry Like A Wolf", a young Shannon Tweed, and the everlasting greatness of downhill skiing....and of course, a refreshing look at a time before political correctness. Looking at the picture quality, this movie desperately needs re-mastering and a DVD version.

The Definitive Kevin Smith Film

One of the biggest film mysteries of all time to me is why Kevin Smith apollogized for making Mallrats. Not only is it excellent, but compared to Clerks and (especially) Chasing Amy, it is a flat out Masterpiece.
Kevin, you are the biggest wuss of all time.

this movie is about culture shock not stereotypes

I believe the only people who are fortunate enough to 'get' this film are those who can identify with the characters.

I'm very fortunate. It's the best film I have ever seen.

OH, TENENBAUMS!!!

Ok. I maybe just a slightly bit biased towards this movie, but ifI were to excuse my personal preferrances, this IS STILL AN AWE-SOM movie!!! 1st and foremost...I AM A HUGE BILL MURRAY FAN! Ifthe man breathes in it..I will pay to see it. Fortunately, he's does do more than just breathing, but still, there's just not e-nough of him in it. However, this one is a rare jewel. Wes Ander-son tomorrow will be AS IMPORTANT to movies as Steven Spielbergor Stanly Kubrick is to films today. His talent for creating liv-ing works of art is astounding. I could go on and on, but I thinkI've reached my limit and I have to say "good bye" for now. ButPLEASE.....GO SEE THIS MOVIE!!!! THANK YOU.

Amazing Show!!! Roswell is great!

At long last, one of the most original and gripping TV shows comes out on DVD! The suspense, drama, romance and human interest of season one will have you on the edge of your seat waiting for seasons two and three to make their DVD debut. Aliens Max, Isabel and Michael, imbued with human DNA and assimilated into Roswell's human society, desperately try to keep their real origin secret from the local sheriff, the government and the FBI---out of fear and necessity. Though alien, they're the "good guys" trying to merely survive in a world of cynical and threatening humans. Their narrow escapes and their desire to remain apart from and still interrelate with humans makes for very interesting viewing. "The White Room", a late first-season episode, ranks with some of the most suspenseful and action-filled plots in the history of television. This is one DVD set you won't see on the "used" block. Buy it---you will definitely want to keep it!

Escape To Grizzly Mountain - movie DVD cover picture
Times have changed, the heart remains unchanged

A mountain man and modern boy are drawn together through a very special cave linking the present with 1841.
Dan Haggerty, who is best know for the 1970's series The Life and Times of Grizzly Adams, stars in this movie. Though the beginning credits clearly state that this is an original production, and is in no way related to the Grizzly Adams series, you will find many similarities. I rather enjoyed that however.
The Mountain Man lives in a secluded cabin in 1841 in peace with nature and the natives on the vast open land of the Pacific Northwest. The boy lives in harried modern times with his older sister after their parents were killed by drunk drivers-(this is only mentioned not shown).
As bullies pick on Jimmy (the boy) they invite him along to the traveling circus where Jimmy finds a very young bear being mistreated and a friendly caregiver amongst the other cruel circus folk.
Through trial and error, bravery and determination this bear cub will have a peaceful and free life. How does he free the bear? What happens at the cave? Who helps him? Well, I'm not going to give it all away! Watch and see....
The time travel through the cave is done in a pleasant fashion and this is a great movie for the whole family. This left a solid vision in the minds of my little ones about caring for God's creatures.
I was very pleased to see Dan Haggerty reprise his mountain man role and I look forward to other productions with him in it.
This would make a great gift and you can feel good about giving it.

Fantastic adventure film

A fantastic film. Just as good as Mary Poppins. Maybe even a bit better as there is quite an adventure involved. And kids just seem to love stories where there's witches, spells, baddies and strange cartoon lands that real people can visit. I loved this movie when it first came out, and it was a favourite with my kids as they were growing up. I think the ending where the Nazi's are invading England and Angela Lansbury's character, who is a good witch, puts a spell on all the old suits of armour and sends them off to fight the Nazis, is terrific. To see the nazis flee in terror when they realize the armour is empty, is a hoot. This movie is filled with loads of magical moments...it's a treasure.

A story to Remember- not to miss

If you've read the award winning and highly acclaimed book by Nicholas Sparks, you already know that the story is extremely touching and emotional. The movie is a wonderful interpretation of the book. This is an unusual case when I loved both the book AND the movie. The movie, directed by Adam Shankman, was well done without going over the top. This is a sweet story that leaves even the most hard-hearted in tears. There are funny moments though, in thanks for the most part to the character of Eric, Landon's best bud.
The acting is phenomenal and the characters and plot are well-developed. Mandy Moore and Shane West are amazing in their portrayals of Jamie Sullivan and Landon Carter, respectfully.
This movie is sure to become an instant classic and it's a terrific addition to your own movie collection.

"I wonder what the poor people are doing today"

Being a scot this has to be one of those rare occasions where a british / american produced film worked well on both sides. Local hero is a classic comedy reminiscent of the ealings classic 'Whiskey galore'. Burt Lancaster was brilliant as was the rest of the cast, scored with a excellent soundtrack by the dire straits front man Mark Knopfler, and filmed beutifully. This has to be by far as Bill Forsyth's best. Despite its age, it is still a very charming and funny film, something rare compared to most of the pictures coming out nowadays. Well worth a look.
