Opened my Memory Floodgates

I saw this movie recently on cable for the first time. As a man approaching 40, I hate to admit that I was in tears by the end of the move. "Avalon" brought back memories of people, places and events from my youth that I had not thought of in years. At times, it almost seemed that some of the characters were based on my family members. This film made me think about how much my family has changed in the last 2 decades--something that I've been too wrapped in my day-to-day affairs to notice. If nothing else, I'm grateful to Barry Levinson for paying tribute to a way of life that, sadly, no longer exists.

Spiritual Revolution & Explanation 4 Scientific Minded

***Explanation 4 Scientific Minded** This movie is NOT presented in a scholarly fashion for the Scientific Community but that's not who or what it's meant for. This movie is presented in a manner closer to how Fahrenheit 9/11 presented politics instead of a lecture by Richard Faynman, While all of it's parts are scientifically true a purest or fundamentalist may question the way the collected material is presented, but while the presentation may be debatable it is presented that why to move society forward. The ideas in this movie are there to help, heal, inspire, change, and create interested on a larger scale where there is none. This film is a spiritual film based on science not simply a science film, if that's what you want there are plenty of those out there but most people don't and that's who this is for. This movie is trying to express a perspective of the world that is modern to help society understand and change so humanity can move forward and away from archaic old world beliefs that are holding humanity back by tying us to ideas that don't work in the light of scientific discoveries.

Scientists tend break things done into smaller parts and that is the way they like it but this movie is a Philosophy for life based on Science that collects Scientific ideas into a unified whole and perhaps it doesn't make sense as a world view to them because either they have found a way to unify old world religious ideas with scientific evidence or they have excepted science as absolute fact despite the realization by many that perceptions do influence findings with one example being that depending on what instruments are chosen when viewing light it either appears as a Wave or a particle, it's almost as if the light waits until we look at it before it decides how it's going to be perceived.

**Spiritual Revolution*** This movie is the REAL LIFE truth encoded in The Matrix movies. If the vilest villain saw this movie he would start to reevaluate his life and if we see it then we'll be able to understand and maybe forgive him. The World can be better then it is. Is this movie the changing mind shift novelty Terence McKenna predicted? This film is much more then a launching point it is a psychedelic mind melting catapult in consciousness changing. Change you're perceptions, Change who you are! This movie is Enjoyable to watch and will affect who you are for the better. If you want to Understand or just be Entertained you will be pleasantly surprised on both fronts. Can you have everything you want from life, if you believe you can it will begin The Process that makes it happen! The movie is presented in a story type fashion with likable characters and Doctors of physics and psychology explaining in fun easy yet knowledgeable ways. This Movie is the most important Film to date and you and everyone you know and everyone should see it just to SEE WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT! And after you see it what next, while this movie is a lot and very satisfying if you want more, I **RECOMMEND** you read**** ROBERT ANTON WILSON's**** books or listen to his audio book ROBERT ANTON WILSON EXPLAINS EVERYTHING (or old Bob exposes his ignorance) or watch the film about him and his ideas called Maybe Logic. But see this movie, it's a stepping-stone in the right direction!!!

**ALSO EVERYONE** I recommend checking out and listening to to stay informed about what's going on and have a few laughs also animated political cartoonist

There Is NO Better!

The Bride of Frankenstein is easily Universal Studio's best horror film. From the surreal backdrops to the final climatic scenes, this movie satisfies fans of all genres...not just horror. The pathos within the scene of the monster and the blind hermit, are potent lessons in emotion, while the obvious parallels of the monster and Christ are just as heart wrenching. Many argue that this film is Karloff's finest hour, but he did have the best of help in making the film the milestone it has become.
Ernest Thesinger as Dr. Pretorious, the amazing Dwight Frye as Karl and Una O'Connor as Minnie give their black humored lines with an edge that is unfounded in todays horror films...pure class in delivery. The work of these supporting players along with director James Whale, and make up artist Jack Pierce truly make The Bride of Frankenstein a major step above any other horror film made. It must be seen many times to appreciate all that is offered.
You must buy this video...I've since worn out three copies!

Simply the most bloody and disgusting movie I've ever seen.

Well, all has been said about this movie, so I don't pretend to add anything new, because it's impossible. Dead Alive is funny, with tons of gore, stupid, digusting... and because all of that, one of my favourites movies.

Respect to the extra material, the DVD is poorly done; only the theatrical trailer is present here. Nothing more. This is in some way compensated with the picture quality, which is superb.

Finally I have to say something about the subtitles; they are out of sinc, the french and the spanish ones. But as nobody has said anything about it, I don't know if actually is only a problem with my copy or other ones have it too. Can anyone clarify that please?.

one of my all time favorites

Two brothers who just got released from prison, trick their brother to go to paradise to do a favor for a friend in prison, to see his daughter that he says won't ever visit. Nicholaus Cage who plays Bill, wants to go on the strait and narrow, but the temptation of robbing the bank in paradise is just to much, kinda of like a drinker or smoker trying to kick the habit, and hanging out with people who do. So they end up robbing the bank, and just can't seem to get out a paradise, finding along the way, that the townspeople who they stole from, would go out of their way to help someone they didn't even know, changing the hearts of the brothers. I really enjoyed this movie and watched it at the theater. I think Jon Lovitz, Dana Carvey, and Nicholaus Cage were great.

Hopkins Scores Again

Once more, Anthony Hopkins proves that he is one of the finest actors of our time in this excellent adaptation of the Stephen King novel (when you get William Goldman adapting a King novel, you can't go too far wrong).
Hopkins stars at Ted Brautigan, a mysterious man who comes to live with 11 year old Bobby Garfield (a teriffic performance by Anton Yelchin) and his widowed mother, a bitter woman who hates Bobby's late father, herself and even her son (another wonderful role for the underrated Hope Davis). Ted and Bobby soon develop a bond and Ted becomes a surrogate father to the boy. Ted has these unusual powers - he can read people's thoughts - which Bobby soon acquires. All the while, Ted is on the run from the "Low Men", a mysterious group of men who are never clearly explained, but it is obvious that Ted's powers are something they want for themselves.
The scenes between Bobby and Ted are very touching, as are the scenes with Bobby and his girlfriend Carol (yet another 4 star performance from a young actress named Mika Booren). The scene where Bobby carries the injured Carol on his back, inspired by the feats of Chicago Bears great Bronco Nagurski, is very moving.
There appear to be many themes to the story - a person's need for friendship and love, loyalty and trust, and appreciating what you have before it is gone. I did not read the Steven King story so I had no preconceived notions about the movie. Although the story is very complicated and a bit complex, it is thoroughly involving and the 2 hours were up in a flash.
This is a movie that I will buy when it gets to DVD. (AND DID)

The Police - Every Breath You Take - movie DVD cover picture
Finally, A Police DVD!!!!!

I'm watching this DVD as I'm writing this review and so far, so good!!!! The early videos are so goofy and geeky - like so many other early 80's videos - with Sting, Andy Summers and Stewart Copeland defintely lokking like a punk/new wave band; while the later videos are more somber..and before this DVD came out, the only video I'd seen was for "Every Breath You Take". Those are the pros, here's the cons: the sound mixing is a little weird, they should have added the Synchronicity concert video on this DVD, and if they really wanted to make this a must have not just for diehard fans but for casual fans as well they should have packaged this DVD with the best-of compilation EVERY BREATH YOU TAKE: THE CLASSICS.
Anyway, great DVD, but here's what should have been:

good info!

The Audrey Hepburn Story was fantastic. Although some of the things that happened did not happen at the right time. Jennifer Love does lovely, but is not Audrey Hepburn. I am doing an Audrey report, and it was very informative.
