Bogart's last film...

Harder They Fall is Humphrey Bogart's last performance on the silver screen before he passed away in 1957. He plays the character Eddie Willis, a former sportswriter, who is hired by Nick Benko (Rod Steiger), a shady boxing manager, to promote an incompetent giant boxer by the name Toro. In the process of promoting Toro, Eddie faces several humorous situations where he has to make the wrong moral choice in order to reach his goal of making a lot of money. Eddie's greed causes him to lose friendships, lie, and hurt people; however, he convinces himself that he must do this in order to achieve wealth. The process of learning the value of human life and money is an emotionally painful journey for Eddie, since he becomes burdened with the heavy feelings of guilt. Harder They Fall is an interesting film about greed and betrayal that is set in the boxing world. As the story unfolds the audience is offered high class drama that is carried by a well prepared cast, which offers a first-rate cinematic experience.

What a touching movie

What a way of capturing all the most obvious movie scenarious in one. Sometimes we need a childs point of view in life and show us the real meaning what love and what it is all about. Children stay children and even adults can become children, but they loose their sence of innocence. That is what makes this movie so touching is the fact that the love for Matilda was unconditional and the feeling was mutual. He was willing to take his own life to give Matilda hers. I would advise anyone who is anyone to watch this movie.

Very Informative & In Your Own Home

My husband and I have varying schedules, so choosing a good childbirthing DVD was important to us so that we could watch on our own time and also be able to review on an as needed basis. Laugh & Learn has been very imformative and fun to watch and learn at the same time. We recommend for couples on the go as well as couples who like to review what they have learned on a more regular basis. All the Best!

Breathtaking!!!

That's what I thought this concert was. I was fortunate to see Marc Anthony perform at the Orpheum Theatre in Boston a few years back and I was BLOWN AWAY!!! I LOVE Marc Anthony. I think he's a wonderful performer who's not afraid to express how he feels, even if he gets a little goofy(that just makes him more human). That's one of the qualities that I find make him so sexy. He's not afraid to be himself. My favorite songs by far is "Y Hubo Alguien" & "Te Conozco Bien" but I can not get over his performance of "Preciosa" and "Nadie Como Ella" with the AMAZING Tito Puente (I still have goosebumps). All in all, a SPECTACULAR job. And of course, from his english album my favorites are "When I Dream At Night" and "That's O.K.". I love you Marc. VIVA PUERTO RICO!!!

I really like it (...)

Ok, there were things left out of the movie, true. You could compare the movie to the book for hours. but I loved the movie just the same. Yeah, they should've explained it a lil better, but I think the action scenes were good. All I kno is, I wanna see it again. It's a really good movie, I definitely was not disappointed. *Legolas is the best!* hehehe

Baby Babble for our autistic son - GREAT

I, too have a child with autism. He is 4 1/2 now. I have found that this was one of the most thought out videos for speech development. Regarding my son, he just needed to see it repetitively - as most autistic people do. Once, he got used to it, he LOVES it. It now holds my son's attention, as well as my 19 month old who now repeats so much from it and names thsome of the toy props they use - "ball, balloon, bubbles, car, etc.) I thought it was well made and applied. It has a lot of sensory movement which I feel is vary appropriate for our son. The visualization of sounds by the therapists is quite advantageous. My son is fixated on their mouths and tries to mimic their lips. My daughter's speech thrapist has continuously aske to borrow it because other families want to see it,too. I am purchasing two more of them (another for myself and one as a donation to our local library). I like Baby Bumble Bee, too. It is very well made and I think that having children as the interaction is a valuable part of the learning process. It is too advanced for my son, though.

Great flick...a must see

This is the first movie out of Hollywood in years that is mature, intelligent and pure fluff. It doesn't pound the audience over the head with any kind of important theme or message, like so many other movies out there that tries to be grown-up, and it never seems to insult the intelligence of the audience, which for an important movie is rare, and for a fun movie is almost unheard of.
The characters seemed right for each other; both of them tried outsmart the other, acknowledged each other as intellectual equals on opposing sides which lead to admiration and sexual attraction. When Rene Russo's character is analyzing the theft and determing the method, she is impressed by the style, the cleverness of the crime and becomes attracted to the criminal because of his cleverness. She never is outraged by the crime, but instead is turned on by it -- here, at last, is a worthy adversary, someone she can have fun chasing.
John McTiernan's directing is very stylish, as usual, and suits the material very well, forming a symbiotic relationship with Pierce Brosnan's and Rene Russo's performances. A genuinely entertaining movie. Rent it or buy it and have a good time.

Be Prepared For War!!!!!!!!!

Definitely one the best concert DVD's of the year. Includes 19 songs in 1 intense live show, the "Bloodline" music video supposedly banned from TV, a photo gallery from their 2001 tour, and a documentary interviewing Tom, Kerry, and Jeff from Slayer, Scott Ian from Anthrax, Kirk Hammett from Metallica, and some of the most insane Slayer fans ever! If you've ever experienced one of their shows, or seen footage somewhere, then you know how brutal a Slayer concert can be. If you have not, then experience for your self right here on this DVD!!!!

Review of Standing in the Shadown of Motown

This is a great documentary for fans of Motown. I rented the DVD on a whim. What I found was a film with so much heart and soul that I have to purchase it as well as the CD. I especially liked Joan Osborne's rendition of "What Becomes of the Broken Hearted." That is perhaps one of my all-time favorite Motown songs.
