Better than any other comedy cartoon

I have not yet bought this DVD, but I have seen a whole bunch of the episodes. Just like The Simpsons and South Park, two of the funniest shows ever, it has funny characters and hillarious plots. Seth McFaine can make any situation seem funny, and unlike The Simpsons and South Park, every scene in the episode has something hillarious. I think this is one of the best shows Fox has aired and since they took it off Fox, I am now watching it every night on Adult Swim on Cartoon Network.
The characters are just one reason that this cartoon is one of the best out there. There is Peter Griffin, the beefy, borderline alchoholic, dumb father and husband, Meg Griffin, the drama queen daughter of Peter, who seems like Peter's least favorite of them all, Chris, the second image of Peter, Stewie, the talking, evil, baby genious who wants to enslave the human race and kill Peter's wife, Lois, who is the most normal of the Griffin family. And we can not forget Brian, the articulate talking dog.
This show is one of my favorites, and one of the most random comedy shows of them all. (That's what makes it so funny) Let me just tell you one thing, if you know how to laugh, you'll love this show.

Spielberg puts twist on Kubrick

The first time I saw the previews for A.I. and the posters, I thought that this was just a glorified version of the movie, "D.A.R.Y.L." - a movie about a boy robot who proves to be much more than wires and metal. However, A.I. surpassed my initial thoughts by its thought-provoking plot, great effects and talented cast.
I would not recommend this film to everyone I know. This film would not appeal to dullards and simpletons who prefer movies where everything is explained to them, where the storyline/details are spoon-fed to their audience. This movie caters to filmgoers who have intelligence as well as imagination. Sometimes, you need to "read between the lines" to see what's really going on.
I can see how the ending might seem short, and there are definitely as many Speilberg characteristics as well as Kuberick ones in this film. But, do not let your biases for the two taint your views of the movie...
I give A.I. 5 stars for its lush visual effects, storyline and acting. Kuberick would have been proud!

This show will change your life

I almost had her face tattooed on my body. My sister and I quote it like bible verses. The line about " How many of you want to wake up in a public bathroom lying in s pool of what you HOPE is your own filth" is on my phone. Devotion, or obsession? I do not know but what I do know is this is Hilarious!
It's ridiculous but smart at the same time. My friend borrowed all three seasons from me one time and I got panicky.(Now he has my Arrested Development dvd and I feel that way again). Everyone I force to watch loves it...well all except one person. I won't mention her name, but we will never look at Liane the same way again.
Anyway if you have seen an episode or two on comedy central and trying to figure out which season to buy, Season One is my personal fav. Of course you'll end up with all three... its addicting. But yeah season one is just one perfect episode after another.

A Stunning Masterpiece!

If you are a fan of Jane Austen you should have no complaints with this beautiful adaption of Pride and Prejudice. The movie follows the book to the letter and allows Jane Austen's sense of humor and rich characters shine through. Partly this is due to the casting of Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle, as the main characters, who have wonderful chemistry. You will want to own this one to watch over and over again. Plan for a weekend as you won't want to stop in all six tapes as the suspense grows. I applaud the BBC for a polished piece of what entertainment should be.
I recommend Emma Thompson's adaption of Sense and Sensibility. And for those who prefer realistic tragedy I recommend Tess of the D'urbervilles starring Justine Waddel. Also high on my list is Wives & Daughters starring Justine Waddel.

What Amazon is shipping is not what was advertised

This item was originally listed as "First and Second Series and Specials" but has since been changed to First and Second Series only. What they are in fact shipping (I've orderd and re-ordered twice) is the First and Second series shrink wrapped together. Those are the same white packaging items you can buy separately not the black packaging shown in this items picture that clearly says on the label "...and the Specials". Beware.

Office is great, but this is not what you might expect.

A Sleeper of a Keeper

I found this in a video store and was attracted by the promotional line, "You'll laugh as often as you scream." I liked this film so much that I *rented* it three times in two months, and since the only letter-box release is on DVD, this is the film that made me break down and get a DVD player so that I could own a copy. Betty White should have gotten an Oscar nomination for Supporting Actress!!

Scariest Movie I have ever seen

The terrifying vignette entitled "The Drip of Water" is a must-see horror classic. The overall poor production values and marginal acting actually enhance the atmosphere, and there is at least one totally heart-stopping, curl-your-toes scream near the end. Campy and even a little weird, but as much fun as one can have watching an old horror movie.

Tremors - movie DVD cover picture
More fun than a barrel of motherhumpers! Pardon my French.

In a contest for the perfect monster movie, 'Tremors' would be on top of the heap. 'Tremors' put several successful elements into one movie: characters that feel real and are easlily distinguished by their personality and uniqueness, you can really care about these people; a monster that is as frightening when it is seen as when it was not (so many monster movies disappoint when the monster is revealed, this does not disappoint): a story which is intelligent and well written: add liberal doses of humor: top it off with a pace that maintains itself from start to finish without a lag. If you are not familiar with this movie (shame on you), the story centers around the inhabitants of the small (about 2 dozen?) town of Perfection, Nevada and a college student doing tests for seismic activity. Their daily activities are interupted by what starts out as underground tremors, slaughtered sheep, and a farmer who was so frightened of something that he climbed up an electrical tower and stayed until he died of dehydration. It is soon discovered that there are undeground monsters and the townspeople must use their wits to escape or fight the monsters if escape is impossible. I have just given a teaser because I do not want to ruin it for anybody. The characters above anything are what makes this movie. They are enjoyable and well played. 'Tremors' is a fun and at times scary thrill ride that does not stop until the end; which is well worth repeated rides.-Bob
