Better than Holes!

I used to have this movie on video tape, but I decided to donate it to Salvation Army and get it on DVD, because I like DVDs better. I had the movie Holes on DVD, too. I bought the movie Holes on DVD when they first released. I really like Holes, too. The differences between Holes and The Parent Trap are good girls vs. bad boys. Holes talks about a camp that's for bad boys and The Parent Trap talks about the camp for good girls. That's why I like girls better than boys, that's why I like The Parent Trap better.

So 2000!

This is a combination of wondrous animation and stupendous orchestral music. It's great fantasy of images and sound encourages interest in the arts and creativity. There is lots of room to explore one's imagination in interpreting the story. It is respectful of race, gender and culture. Our kids were mesmerized. They loved the graphics and commented: "This was really cool." "The Firebird Suite was really bright and the music fit really well." "I loved the whale segment. I thought they were flying, then swimming. I guess you were supposed to think both." Best for ages 5 to 8.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (Widescreen Edition) (Harry Potter 2) - movie DVD cover picture
A Great Sequel Is Like A Unicorn...

Year Two at Hogwarts finds a perfect cast still intact, with even more cool characters joining in the fun! It seems that the chamber of secrets has been opened and something is loose! Danger and dread build up to an epic battle between good and an evil that just won't stay dead! I'm a huge monster fanatic and absolutely went ga-ga over the basalisk (titanic snake monster) and Aragog (titanic spider monster)! They would have been enough for me right there! HPATCOS is a feast for those who are starved for good stories that don't pander to kids or insult their intelligence. There's mystery, horror, adventure, humor, warmth, and the deepening bond between Harry (Daniel Radcliffe) and his friends, Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint) and Hermione Granger (Emma Watson). We also get to meet Dobby the house-elf and Lucius Malfoy (like father like son). Even the minor characters are interesting and help flesh out the story. I wish the HP books / movies had been around when I was a kid! Oh well, at least I can enjoy them with my son. Highly recommended...

A moving independent film.

Boys Don't Cry
Score: 91/100
Boys Don't Cry, huh? It's got a director we've never heard of, a bunch of new actors and a story about a sexual identity crisis. It doesn't sound very appealing. But, what cinema-goers around the world have got out of this little masterpiece is much more than you'd expect, and Boys Don't Cry has quickly become one of the best independent films of the '90's.
Brandon Teena (Hilary Swank) is the popular new guy in a tiny Nebraska town. He hangs out with the guys, drinking, cussing, and bumper surfing, and he charms the young women, who've never met a more sensitive and considerate young man. Life is good for Brandon, now that he's one of the guys and dating hometown beauty Lana Tisdel (Chloe Sevigny). However, he's forgotten to mention one important detail. It's not that he's wanted in another town for GTA and other assorted crimes, but that Brandon Teena is actually a woman named Teena Brandon. When Brandon's best friends make this discovery, his life eventually is ripped apart by betrayal, humiliation, rape, and murder.
This moving and unexpected story is bought to life by a marvellous script by Kimberley Pierce and Andy Bienen; all the scenes are worth watching and all the dialogue is excellently thought-out. Pierce, who also directs, shows excellent potential, the rape scene in particular captures her brilliance and taut direction. The performances are all masterful; Hilary Swank who wins a well-deserved Oscar for her role as Brandon Teena; Chloe Sevigny who was nominated for an Oscar and should've won, her performance burns in the memory. Also some acting and small efforts that went unnoticed in Boys Don't Cry make it more worth watching, including Peter Sarsgaard's portrayal of the horribly nice-guy-turned bad John Lotter and also Nathan Larson for his haunting score.
Groundbreaking performances, immaculate direction and a stunningly brutal script make Boys Don't Cry an unmissable first feature.

Best Film In The Last 10 years.......

Awsome, this is one of the best films I've seen in a long time, and NO, this ain't no Pulp Fiction, this is way better, I don't know how this film did not win an Oscar, the stupid academy does not know what they are doing.
The acting in this film is awsome as well, but no actor was nominated for the Oscars, AMAZING.
Buy this film, own this film, love this film, and no dogs were hurt, so dog protector associations, SHUT THE HELL UP.

A CLASSIC 80S MOVIE

I think i have seen this movie about fifty times now. It is one of the best comedies from the 80s, and reminds me of my own high school days. I totatlly identify with samantha baker, as being so geekily in love with some guy that doesn't know i exist. Alot of great classic lines, that myself and other people i know love to quote to this day, and a total laughfest. even today this movie is still great. It's got a totally awesome 80s' soundtrack and a great cast of colorful characters. if you are 30ish, and have never seen this movie, see it! it will give you memories of those old glory days' of high school.

Should have one at the Oscars!!

Amelie is the one movie, I have seen in theaters more than once. From the opening scenes of the movie, until the ending, I was in awe of everything going on. From the vibrant colors used every where, to the outstanding performances of the actors themselves, this movie is one that can be enjoyed by anyone. I've seen it 3 times in the theaters, and a male friend of mine has seen it 5 times. It is just an incredible film that will leave you wanting more.

HUDSONS BEST WORK

"There is an unturned key inside everybody." So says one of this amazing films' souless and mournful characters. I saw this film right before viewing Kubricks Eyes Wide Shut and the two films share immense similarities. Using the guise of science fiction, Director Frankenheimer and Cinematograper James Wong Howe along with actors Rock Hudson and John Randolph work to create a terrifying and heartbreaking portrait of life lost. This is not an uplifting film in the slightest, of course that is like saying the same thing about King Lear. Classic American character actor Will Geer is the ultimate in gentile evil as the mephestopholian CEO of a mysterious company that gives middle aged men new identities. One cannot ever go home again is one of the many profound messages this film slams home. Devistating and disturbing. Don't miss this!
