IT has great acting especially by Vin Diesel and Larenz Tate and it has good spaced out action sequences so it is not just a full out action movie. The storyline is great!!!! IT STAYS WITH YOU

When I read a bad review of this film,I am astounded that they don't get it. This is such a superb portrayal of evil, an evil that goes back for generations, and the gene pool that ultimately led to this overgrown killing machine we know as "Leatherface." These five people are out for the afternoon, need to check on a relative's grave, after news reports of grave-robbing. Fate isn't so kind to them.
(Spoiler here)
An exceptionally hard scene to watch, is when Leather drags one of the girls back to the butchery room. Having just killed her boyfriend with a swift blow to the head with a sledge hammer, he makes incoherent noises as he chases her down, and with no sympathy whatsoever, just hangs her on one of the meat hooks. She gasps and writhes in unbearable pain while Leatherface proceeds to dismember Kirk, right in front of her. The subtle things add to the impact,as in the above mentioned scene, which is not in the least bit subtle, but the shot of the weather-vane twisting in the wind, as Pam's screams are heard off in the distance, show an abject sense of hopelessness on her part that goes beyond the imagination. That's the off-camera horror that so many , young people in particular, just don't get anymore.
In all, three guys and two girls are brutalized in this film, and it may be the male-pig in me, but it's all the harder to process because these are very attractive girls, and when you see what they go through,it has an emotional impact. Realistically, it would be just as brutal if they were dodgy and unattractive, but I think it was cast this way on purpose. The victims are dispatched in such a callous way, it makes a strong case for vegetarianism.
And the now infamous "dinner room scene" just goes on and on, showing pure terror from the victim's point-of-view, I just don't know how anyone can watch this and not feel the revulsion that the filmmakers intended. I hear terms like "screamfest", and I think, "Look what's happening! Why would anyone be less than hysterical-my God, don't you get it?"
Yes, this is an exploitation film, only an exercise in terror, but one without peer.

Second Disc = WOW

I didn't think the second disc could top the first disc. I was wrong! It Blew Me Away. This series is really starting to grow on me even though I generally dislike depressing stories. Now and Then.., is one of the few anime series that made me vocally shout and cheer the characters on, as each of them fight to survive in a world of terrible atrocities. Nobody is free from a terrible fate when targeted by King Hamdo's army. Not men, women, or children. There's quite a lot of plot development in this volume and I can't wait to see how everything turns out in the end. What part will our hero Shu play in the ultimate fate of this war stricken world? And what will happen to the mysterious Lala Ru and her magical pendant? I'm eagerly waiting to watch the next disc.

Literature on film!

Two Lane Blacktop is the best car movie ever. It has the best cars, quality chase scenes, and is more true to life than any other. It hits the mark straight in the bullseye as far as street racing and proper cars go. This is no Hollywood rubbish like The Fast and The Furious. This is real.

One Of The Best

This is by far one of Depp's best films. I wouldn't say it was one of Bloom's best performances, but the movie was one of the best this year! It was hilarious, all the action you could want, and they kept it up throughout the entire film. It was definately NOT dissapointing. Awesome music, awesome effects, over all an awesome film. A MUST SEE!! Well worth what you pay for a ticket, must see!

New and Improved

In the world that is Toy Story 2, one may find the same gang: Woody, Buzz, Mr. Potato Head, ect. The movie advances when Disney throws a curve ball to get the attention of both the younger and older on-lookers. "Woody has been shelved!" This starts the humorous, warm, and exciting storyline and theme that is this movie. To thicken the plot even more, Woody gets stolen by a toy collector. At this point, it is up to the rest of the gang to save him. Woody discovers the wonders and hardships of fame, while the others are still looking for him. New characters are introduced and are brilliantly brought forth. Stinky Pete (Kelsy Grammer) adds both a bad guy and humor to the movie. As the movie progresses, one learns who Buzz's dad really is and if Woody is dedicated to fame or his friends. Toy Story 2 is a must see for all ages. The movie both plays with childerens imaginations and gives a few humorous antics that only the older watchers would enjoy. A fine example of adult humor is the idea that the Barbie's are protrayed as the typical bimbo. That subject is obviously for the older watcher, but a concept that a child could enjoy. Hint: For those of you who can't get over the idea of the movie actully being over, Disney has something just for you. They have incroporated "take outs" that roll durring the credits.

Clearing the air

One of the earliest examples of the pseudo-science documentary genre, this famous (or infamous, depending on your point of view), film poses many questions, and provides little else.
Although there are some fascinating sites around the world visited here, such as Easter Island and several sites in Bolivia, Egypt, and Peru, there are also some things strangely left out. Stonehenge, for example, is completely missing, even though the focus of the film is on the mystery of moving massive stone blocks great distances. The flight over Plains of Nazca, which sport mysterious drawings that can only be seen from the air, and the Easter Island footage, are perhaps the most interesting parts of the film.
Part of the problem with this 1972 effort is that it was obviously shot for a German audience, and then translated for American audiences. Everything is done in voice-overs, so we do not really hear what the "experts" are trying to tell us.
The voice-overs add to the frustration of watching the film. Many questions are raised, but there seems to be no real case being made by the producers. The "evidence" being offered is simply a question with no answer. Basically, they're saying, "Is it old and mysterious? Must have been aliens!"
Of course, no one watches this sort of film for any kind of real scientific education. The theories put forward here have been debunked quite thouroughly, and a zillion times over. The fun in watching this kind of film is in seeing how people only a few decades ago could buy into just about anything that could be labeled as "Unknown" or an "Ancient Mystery". Unfortunately, while this film is one of the earliest examples of the psuedo-science documentary genre, it is not one of the most entertaining.
One interesting facet of the film is that several Russian "experts" were interviewed, an odd inclusion for a US audience at the height of the Cold War. On the other hand, the Russians depicted here were hardly legit, so perhaps the government or whoever figured that that worked in our favor.
The promo for the film, included on the DVD, is classic early 70's advertising, and sadly, better than the film itself.

Now I can watch it when I want to! No Felgercarb!

I got this for Christmas in 2003 and I loved it (and still do!) How fitting that it was from my mother who never let me stay up to watch it when it originally aired back in 1978 (I was only 8). I watched this series on weekend reruns in the early 80's along with Buck Rogers on UHF TV. I was also sick of missing when the Sci Fi Channel would show them. Now I own all 24 episodes on DVD! I was reminded of how cool the Cylons looked and sounded, especially the deeper sounding lead Gold Centurians. I loved Jonathan Harris as the voice of Lucifer the witty right hand Cylon (of the advanced IL Series) to Balter. Patrick MacNee was brilliant as the Cylon Imperious Leader and later as Count Iblis.

It was really cool seeing some of the deleted scenes for each episode. Some were alternate versions that they changed entirely and that was really neat to see. The bloopers were great. Not everyday you hear the guy who played Hector say,"I F***ed up!" The booklet that acompanies this set is real nice. It has pictures and a synopsis on each episode with their original air dates and guest stars. The neatest thing I liked was the audio commentary on the pilot 3-parter with Richard Hatch (Apollo), Dirk Benedict (Starbuck), and Herbert Jefferson Jr. (Boomer). A good thing to do if you put on that commentary is turn the subtitles on so you have the show's dialogue to read while you listen to them talk.

The "Cylon Head" packaging can be a bit bulky for the DVD shelf but makes a great display piece. There is a set available without the "Cylon Head" packaging if you're not into that.
Much like the original Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica's run was cut way too short... Both shows were on main stream network TV and didn't have the luxury of a Sci-Fi Channel to get that target audience like the new Battlestar series (which I like) and is enjoying a 2nd season.

Between this set, Buck Rogers, The Greatest American Hero, and Star Blazers I have a big chunk of my childhood on DVD and can relive it anytime I want to!

Just one word - MITCHUM!!!

Psychological terror at its best. In Charles Laughtons first and last directorial undertaking he masters the technique of terror without bloodshed and strikes fear into our hearts as we sit in the dark and watch helplessly as Mitchum(as a man of god)is at his most vicious, tracking down two innocents for money for "his church". When the movie is over the sound of his singing will still ring in the night.

DEFINITELY SARAH MICHELLE GELLAR'S GREATEST HIT!

To be honest, I really only wanted to see this movie because I am a HUGE fan of Sarah Michelle Gellar (from upcoming hits "Cruel Intentions," "Scream 2" and "Simply Irresistible.") She is a truly great actress and I was SO mad when she got...oh don't let me spoil the movie. But all I need to say is that if you read the book it's nothing like the movie but both book and movie are great so just enjoy the whole concept of I Know What You Did Last Summer.
