Shocking History

Very few films have reached this level of excellence. This multiple award winner (Oscar, Cannes, etc.), is magnificently directed by Luis Puenzo and superbly acted by everyone in the cast (Norma Leandro is extraordinary). The beauty of the cinematography, with its sharp contrasts of red and blue, the editing, the's all a marvel.
One of the things this film is about is how the truth can unravel a seemingly "perfect" situation when it's based on wrong motives and actions.
This film will capture won't just watch it, you'll live it. Don't miss this incredibly powerful cinematic experience.

Lost Past brings out the best inVash

I really liked this DVD. It brings out the best in Vash. Keeping the mystery going, a busty, brainy beauty arrives to save the day with her knowledge of Lost Technology. Vash, of course, does anything she asks. But in the end, when it is revealed that she had met him before, the final scene is excellent.Vash brings out the best in an orphaned boy after he gives him a chance to do right what he had wronged. This was an excellent DVD.

It sure is one hell of a show

24 redefined television and became one of the best Television Series ever made. And what's can see it all again on DVD. The 6-Disc set has all 24 episodes. But it really isn't in completely real time, due to the stupid commercials FOX had to put in, so it usually skips over 15 minutes of content. For example: The clock goes to 9:46:03 and then the commericials end, and it's at 9:52:35. But there are no commercials on the DVD =). And thats a good thing too. This is the best Collection of DVDs I will ever own, until season two comes out on DVD, in Sept. 2nd, 2003.

This is excellent instruction for beginning dancers to feel more comfortable on the dance floor. Demonstrations and instructions are very good. This is going to help hubby and I feel more confident in dancing.

Crippled by resentment? Watch this!

The other reviewer did a great job of summarizing the plot, so I will not be redundant. Suffice to say that this short story is a high quality, high content, nudge towards healing. Not one of us has not met the star of this film in our daily life. Usually we write them off and run from them. Yet too often we become them, and our anger damages others. The path to healing our wounded souls is laid out for us in this jewel of a story. Know someone who is stewing in their own bitterness and anger? Anonymously slip this DVD in their mailbox and watch what happens.

Himself?!? Draw Your Own Conclusion!

A manic dialogue, combined with an irregular dose of hilarity performed in Bill Cosby fashion, makes for an interesting stand-up performance in this 1981 "concert" taped in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. Bill lets loose a tongue galloping marathon bonanza, as he pulls no punches in describing such subject matter as dysfunctional families, independent toddlers, hillbilly rednecks, dentists, and many more. Expectant mothers and fathers-to-be are sure to get a hoot out of natural child birthing, which is explained in a way only Mr. Cosby can, bringing hilarious results, no doubt. Also, for educational purposes, there's "Say No To Drugs The Cosby Way" - he'll show you how to say no, all right!!! Bill also receives some good tips from his own children about what to eat for breakfast (this you gotta hear!), and the results may surprise you! As a result, Mr. Cosby hasn't lost his comedic touch, which means that "Bill Cosby, Himself" may be Bill's best stand-up work since his "Bill Cosby Is A Very Funny Fellow - RIGHT!" album (which features the equally hilarious, classic "Noah" skits). "Bill Cosby, Himself" definitely belongs in everyone's comedy library. A 1,000,001 laughs will be had by all who view it!

Put it in Wide Screen!

In my opinion, this is the best-made movie I have ever seen. Every scene moves seamlessly from one to the next. It took me several viewings to understand everything that was happening, but that is part of the beauty of it all. THE ONE drawback of this movie is that the DVD isn't in wide screen!

Loaded to the Gills With Quirky Special Features

If you're a Wes Anderson fan, this two disc set is a must have. It includes tons more photos, interviews, and footage from behind the scenes than the single disc version, as well as an interview sequence with Wes and co-writer Noah Baumbach so dryly humorous that you can't quite tell if it's a joke or the real thing.

The set is packaged with extensive artwork done by Wes's brother, Eric, as well as a transcription of a very interesting conversation between the two brothers regarding their memories of childhood, their artistic influences, and the genesis of some of Wes's movies. Additional material found only in the two disc set includes a video interview with composer Mark Mothersbaugh, a video journal by one of the interns who appear onscreen in the film, and a behind the scenes documentary which follows Wes throughout the making of the movie. Seu Jorge is also featured in ten complete performances of Bowie songs, a reminder of how integral the songs and his renditions of them are to the mood and feel of the movie.

If you're not an obsessed fan or a movie nut who enjoys all the behind the scenes goodies, stick with the single disc, but if you like bells and whistles, this is a great set to have in your collection.
