Awesome Martial Arts / Romance story

This is a great movie. It reminds me of "Braveheart" in that it was romantic enough to take my girlfriend to the movies but then at the same time it had enough action to keep me awake.
To me it is a very classical Chinese love story, very tragical mixed with traditional Chinese values and awesome Martial Arts scenes. Remember those Chinese movies from way back in the 70's that had the dubbed English delay by a second or two? and those awesome fighting scenes.... well, they caught up with this movie. It is absolutely artfully done. We'll be talking about it for quite a bit. I hope the same director and actors / actresses get together again for another one.
Well done !!!

5 stars for this and every other Star Wars film!!!!!

Let me start off by saying I LOVE the original trilogy. I love all the charocters that I grew up with. But a bunch of stubborn people who can't adapt to a new story and a new cast is really getting on my nerves. I wish when people wrote things about the movie they would actually understand the plot first. I defended Phantom Menace which I gave 5 star wars on the grounds which it was introducing the stories and the charocters. Phantom Menace which was the perfect movie title, because you see how the Jedi are blinded by the dark side and their arrogance and slowly through the prequels the dark side is revealing themselves. It was set in a time of peace. The actors are wooden, BECAUSE THEY ARE SUPPOSE TO BE!!! The prequels are all in peace time. If anyone took a hint from the Attack of the Clones teaser poster which said a jedi shall not love, or hate, meaning a jedi is not suppose to let their emotions control their actions. I love Natalie Portman and the romance she has with Anakin. Mind you people that this is a PG rated film so they were trying to be cautious because of the child audience. I liked Hayden Christiansen and Jake Lloyd, because Lucas is trying to portray how a young child, grown into a teenager, how certain events in one life can create the tyrant we all know and love as Darth Vader. Also lay off Jar Jar, also Lucas is showing with him is how a clumsy uninformed goof with power can cause tragerdy by his inability to make well educated decisions. In Ep. 4-6 Luke, Han, and Leia are fighting a rebellion of course they are going to be more emotional and hostile! Also I am a Lord of the Rings fan, but I rate Star Wars as the greatest set of films of all time. Spiderman was OK but not great it was just the "flavor of the month". I am Star Wars fan til the day I DIE, I'm a real fan unlike the whiney other people I have to listen to!

Flawed but beautifully so

Ray Bradbury's society in which all rules and regulations are dictated by the Fire-Department shows obvious comparisons to Nazi dictatorship. Controlling entertainment and leasure time, indoctrinating children with chanting exercises, as well as determining secular aptitudes for citizens, providing "happy pills" and wall-screen TVs, a mono-rail transportation system and much more, is done all "for the better of society". The obcession with books as the enemy (they needlessly confuse people and must be banished) compares to Hitler's obcession with ridding the world of "undesirables".
The film cleverly shows glimpses of selected pieces of literature, including a split-second view of Hitler's "Mein Kampf", accompanied by the Chief Fireman's admonishing words about the negative effects of books on people. The main character Montag, a confused "aspiring" Fireman, is seen favoring a few "special" books among the ones he is hiding (at great risk to himslef) in his home. Observant viewers can see him slip "Casper Hauser" into his back pocket. His loyalty to his government is tested by a few "special" neighbors, who defiantly refuse giving up books.
The final scenes show Montag, now a reformed ex-member of the "dark age" society in a new world, where books are committed to memory and verbally passed down to others. The initial "Utopia" had many material comforts, as well as a sense of security. The "New World" seems to have freedom, yet no material advantages at all. People are aimlessly pacing through wooded areas, visibly impoverished and seemingly in a perpetual daze. The viewer may wonder which of the two societies is actually the better one.
Perhaps the message is that good and evil exist in all societies. There is no perfect society, there never was, there never will be. "Fahrenheit 451" is a frightning look at two worlds, both with different kinds of goods and evils. Giving up some good things is inevidably opening the door to evils and vice versa. This is an effective film, true to the author's intentions. Long a favorite among required High School reading, this film should be seen and discussed along with the reading. Bizarre and disturbing, yet open for discussions. Recommended.****

The Whole Pie May Not Be Back, but It Is Still Just As Whole

I almost cried during this film as a matter of fact I would have peed my pants if I didn't use the bathroom before hand...This movie was hilarious!!!! The friends that I went with had to hold me in my seat (ok maybe not) but I was darn close to rolling in the isles.
Yes, as you probably heard the whole cast didn't return for the conclusion to the Pie trilogy but to tell you the truth I didn't even notice they were missing. The movie also didn't follow the same format as it's predecessors...yes, Jim was caught in every un-imaginable sexually related scenario but this movie was a freshly baked slice of pie.
I swear this one has to be the raunchiest of them all. In the end though it made me want to fall in love (man I'm in love with Alyson Hannigan, damn she is getting married in real life :-(, it really did a good job pulling at the 'ole heart strings. Right from the first Pie I knew these two (Jim and Michelle) where going to elope, truly a match made in movie heaven... There were many unexpected things in this movie including the fact that all the funny scenes where not in the previews. Stifler's other side shows, believe it, he's not as shallow as you may have thought. And this movie is a great "what not to do guide for the groom." For being a sequel it was actually comparable to the first installment, if not funnier.
It is kind of sad really, no more sexual misadventures of Jim or any other of the American Pie crew for that matter...unless they decide to make it into a new TV series. Hey it's possible, have you seen what they are putting on the TV nowadays, this would actually be an improvement. Got off topic there for a second...well my recommendation is to go see this movie, sure you don't need the big screen to enjoy a movie such as this but who can wait till it comes out on DVD (your going to want to buy it anyway, not rent it especially when they come out with the deluxe unrated collectors edition of the American Pie series with 500 hours of never before seen raunchy footage). All right back to our regularly scheduled day...
