A very heartwarming movie

The movie is really very good and though i did manage not to cry at end in front of my friends, my friends can clearly see tears in my eyes. I recommend it for everyone who love family movies

Expensive? Yes. Worth it? Oh yes!

A bit pricey, sure, but you get running commentary on all 3 films by Mr. Coppola himself, and that is worth the purchase alone. Sure, you could rent the DVDs, hear the commmentaries, and save a few bucks, but the first 2 movies are DVD LIBRARY ESSENTIALS!!! You should OWN THESE! The 3rd, well, ain't all bad.(...)The bonus disc in the GODFATHER set is an informative delight. You really get a sense of how much Coppola loves making movies.

Scrubs - The Complete First Season - movie DVD cover picture
Scrubs is fantastic

I should mention first that Scrubs is my favorite comedy series. Now, on to the review.

This season was the best. Everything was still completely fresh. This show is almost like the Twin Peaks of comedies. The stories aren't especially bizarre, but flashbacks and things "seen from J.D's perspective" make this very odd indeed.

And yet, the humor is accessible by almost anyone. As you can see, there isn't yet a single one star review for this show.

The extras aren't great, although the commentary tracks are usually worth listening too. Otherwise, the DVD is a fairly regular TV DVD release. However, this just leaves more room for the show to shine. And boy does it ever.

Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol - movie DVD cover picture
A Perennial Favorite

I was never a fan of Mr. Magoo except for this delightful re-working of Dickens' classic Christmas story. The clever script, the fabulous and catchy musical score (who can forget "razzleberry dressing"??), and the timeless story made this one of my favorite shows every year at Christmas time when I was a kid (and as an adult). I'm thrilled to see that it has made it to DVD. I have had it on videotape for about twenty years and have played it with trepidation for fear that the tape might break!! I have nothing but praise for this feel-good, lovely little gem.

Terrific!

The Exorcist has a most unique story as far as demon possession goes. It's not exactely the scariest movie of all time but it does keep you glued to the screen for most of the movie. For a demonic film, there is not much violence to speak of at all. This film might scare little kids but teens and adults will find it interesting.

ROSA PARKS: Modern Day Heroine - movie DVD cover picture
ANOTHER GEM FROM RAY POINTER!!!!!!!!

Those who know Ray Pointer and have purchased his products already know that he is a stickler for detail, high production value and perfection. Hence the fine quality releases that have not only won him awards, but have earned him a fine reputation around the world.

ROSA PARKS: MODERN DAY HEROINE is the first in a new line of releases titled, "Golden Classics." These will feature a number of restoration packages of many of Ray's personal films over the past 40 years, and will be a new line of releases to be seen over the next two years. The award-winning U.S. Navy documentary WEST AFRICA: A CNO SPECIAL (1981) hosted by Alex Haley is planned as the next Golden Classics release.

But back to ROSA PARKS. Ray adapted this DVD, from a filmstrip he produced 30 years ago, which is now seen as the first documentary ever done on this subject. With the 50th anniversary of the Civil Rights Movement approaching next year, he felt it was his duty to be involved with its restoration.

The DVD starts off with Ray sitting before the camera and telling us about this project, and his own involvement. He speaks quite passionately and you tell how much joy and pride he takes in his work.

The documentary starts off with the narrator asking the question, "What is Heroism?" We are then shown a number of historical individuals, both black and white, that made their marks in history. The final person mentioned is Rosa Parks and we are ready to hear her own story.

We are given a history of Rosa and the events that led up to her refusing to give up her seat on a Montgomery bus to a white male passenger in December of 1955. This led to the involvement of the Civil Rights leaders Martin Luther King and Ralph Abernathy and the famous Montgomery Bus Boycott. Rosa's voice gives us some of the narration of the events and is supplemented by the wonderfully stirring musical score by Michael Gonzales. I can't say enough glowing things about the superlative production on this wonderful documentary.

Included with the DVD is a "Study Guide" that teacher's can use with their students, after they have viewed the documentary.

Ed Wood (Special Edition) - movie DVD cover picture
He's killed! Murdered! And someone's responsible!

Ed Wood is quite simply Tim Burton's best film. It's a loving portrayal of the man who wanted more than anything to make it in Hollywood. Wood became only the second person to write, direct, produce, and act in his films, blissfully unaware of how inept he was in all four areas. Johnny Depp (is there anything he can't do?) plays Wood to the hilt. I dare you not to laugh when he tries to shake his head yes and no at the same time. Jeffery Jones is also great as Criswell, and is clearly having a lot of fun in the introduction. Bill Murray doesn't really look or sound like John "Bunny" Breckinridge, but I actually think he was much better for the role of the Ruler in Plan 9. However, the single greatest performance is by Martin Landau as Bela Lugosi. I had to watch the film twice before it sunk in that he was not the same guy! Overall, just a great film. It knows when to go for laughs and when to go for tears, and it's certainly better than anything Wood himself could have done.

Hilarious! People with limited intelligence might not get it

This movie is hilarious, and has a rare quality... "rewatchability". For the whole, people with short attention spans or limited intelligence probably not like its wit and dry humor. The comedy is very subtle much like a good British comedy. I needn't explain the plot line, the cast is filled to the top with stars from all walks of life and contribute marvelously to the screen play. Any one who has seen the movie will know the feeling of should I buy this on DVD or not.. my friends don't get it. Well don't listen to them, you are a viewer with taste and wont settle for some cheap VHS of the "Jerry Springer Show's best strippers" This is a good way of screening prospective friends too. Watch it with them and note their reaction, if they don't get it, you probably wont get them...
