A thought provoking mystery!

A thought provoking and stylish mystery, with a refreshing setting!
Jack Yeats (Robert Wisden) was once a crack investigative journalist for a Vancouver newspaper. But a scandal put an end to that. Now, working in a cube farm, Jack has become the lowest form of life on the journalist food chain, he's the obit writer. Working the obituaries can drive a man to drink, but one day Jack receives a package containing half of a recently deceased millionaire's diary. The blood-soaked pages hint at different end than his obituary reported. Curious, and sensing a story that may get him out of his dead end job, Jack goes on a mission to find out more about the case.
Full of clever and funny dialougue, Impolite has a plot like Chinatown's and never ceases to draw the audience into the mystery. With a great twist ending, Impolite is impossible not to like!

Great stretches for the back and other parts.

I rented this video before buyting it. What I like the most is that unlike some other yoga videos, this one is not a bit boring. Erich, the instructor, is excellent. My back feels great after this and I feel very relaxed. The music and scenery are absolutely wonderful.

Hellraiser - Inferno - movie DVD cover picture

First let me say that I will spoil the movie for you. This would be the "unkindest cut of all" as it is worth owning this film.
To give you a quick background on me, I like Hellraiser: Hellbound. Hellraiser 3 and Bloodlines play a sad second. This is especially true for Bloodlines which stood to present a side of the story I was dying to see.
This film does a wonderful job of portraying Hell as a process. Each man creates his own private Hell. It is up to Pinhead to play director (and more).
The first clue that this film would be different was the lack of a box-opening death scene. The gratuitous blood and gore is relegated to the imagination as this film take a mature hand as the main character attempts to understand the puzzle his life becomes when he solves the puzzle box.
Pinhead is relegated to "Usual Suspects" Kaiser Sulzay (sp?) position as the man behind the scenes. Indeed he is the man who pulls the strings. Unlike Kaiser, he has a few more liberties in how he forms and expresses those strings.
Including elements from Jacob's Ladder, the character catches ever greater glimpses of demons in his world. Like Jacob Singer, our character comes face to face with his child as he comes to fully understand and accept his fate. Unlike Jacob Singer, our character is not led ascending to Heaven by a warm hand.
The real genius behind the film is that it does not end as expected, but as appreciated. The end provides a nice twist will not catch fans by surprise but will be appreciated by all.
Kudos to the film for a great portrayel of one man's Hell.

Wolf's Rain...not Wolf's Reign

I must say, this is a pretty freakin' awesome show. The first time I watched it on Adult Swim, I was "captivated" or whatever, but it is one hell of an awesome show. I would defendetly recommend this, and especially if you like Cowboy Bebop, both shows are made by the same creator, and so if you haven't seen WR, and you like CB, then I would recommend. Snow White - The Fairest of Them All - movie DVD cover picture
Kristin Kreuk SHINES as "Snow White"

It's not your traditional version of the Grimm's famous story, but this effort by Hallmark Entertainment (distributed by Disney) certainly has it's merits!
Caroline Thompson's script tells the traditional story of the princess with "skin as white as snow" and the jealous stepmother who wishes her stepdaughter dead. But Thompson decides to elaborate the story with several touches of her own. For instance, Snow White's father, John (played by Tom Irwin), releases a "jinn" or "genie" type creature (Clancy Brown) from a frozen prison in the ice. To show his thanks, the creature grants John three wishes: 1) milk for his infant daughter, 2) a kingdom, and 3) a queen. But the candidate chosen to sit at King John's side, is none other than the creature's hideous sister, Elsbeth (Miranda Richardsn). As an "act of kindness" to his sister, he transforms her blemished skin to worldly beauty. But King John's heart still lies with his dead wife, Josephine (Vera Farmiga). So, Elspeth's first spell of manipulation is cast.
Another added plot twist borrows from another Grimm's story, "Snow White and Rose Red". Queen Elsbeth lets her raging hormones get the best of her when Prince Alfred (Tyron Leitso) spurns her lusty advances. For revenge, Elsbeth turns the prince into a bear, who then seeks out Snow White to help break the spell.
In a psychological twist, Esbeth disguises herself as Josephine, Snow White's mother, when she delivers the poisoned apple. Quite clever.
Hallmark Entertainment regular Miranda Richardson is perfectly cast as the woman who's sole existence rides on being "fairest in the land". In her usual brilliant way, Richardson's performance is deranged yet humorous all at once.
Kristin Kreuk (WB's "Smallville") as "Snow White" gives a deeper performance than one would expect. Rather than turning the princess into a sugary sweet victim, Kreuk brings out the human qualities of a teenager who longs to be seen as more than the beauty she is. Because of Elsbeth's spell on him, her father ignores her. Her stepmother hates her. The visiting prince swoons over her. The poor girl simply wants to be loved and known for the person behind the beautiful face. Kreuk was the perfect choice.
The seven dwarfs are creatively reworked as the creatures that control the weather. They travel around the countryside as a rainbow, with each of them playing a different color. Named for the days of the week, each dwarf's personality comes from the old nursery rhyme' "Monday's child is fair of face, Tuesday's child is full of grace.....". Warwick Davis, of Ewok fame, plays "Saturday". Davis is no stranger the Snow White story, having performed in and directed many pantomime productions in his homeland of England. In another creative twist, Vincent Schiavelli plays "Wednesday"....the only "dwarf" over 4.5 feet tall! Michael J. Anderson (Twin Peaks) plays "Sunday" the kind-hearted sympathetic leader of the "magnificent seven".
As in anything she is in, Vera Farmiga is wonderful. She is under used sadly, as Josephine is buried for most of the film. Thankfully she is brought back for the famous apple sequence.
If you are expecting a live action version of the Disney 1937 classic, you will be greatly disappointed. The film rides on it's own merit and will hopefully become another family classic. Thanks Hallmark!

Murphy's best is his first

Some of the best 1-liners ever reside in this film. Simply put, its a great comedy with a flare for drama, and in the cop buddy genre. Lots of cursing, some nudity, but ultimately, a great flick. It kicks today's cop buddy flicks in the Mother F-ing Aholes Mother F-ers!

good drama, great performances= a hit movie!

IF you like suspense, action, a good plot, this is it! Gary Oldman is superb, playing a cop who has many obssesions, and gets caught between a rock and a hard place( Lena Olin). I like this movie, it has all the elements that make a movie good:suspense, drama, action, Anabella Ciorra, and a good jazz score by Incognito. In this movie, the score is sort of a onmiscient guide that takes us from happiness to sorrow, to desperation and back. Lena Olin is perfect as the hit woman who goes after Olman, gun in hand.Rarely do we see women being portrayed as strong characters who are not afraid of anything or anybody, independent and able to take action as they see fit. Needless to say I bought this movie, I keep it next to TO LIVE AND DIE IN L.A., which is another movie that has a similar tone. In Romeo is bleeding , Roy Scheider is the mob boss who tells Olman " you know the difference between good and bad... you just don't care"right before he gives his ultimatum. You won't find, senseless shootings, or hour long car chases(there is one scene were a car races down an alley for a reason, but no chase). A good movie overall, you should see it too.
