Another Smith Classic

Kevin Smith has done it again. This is a wonderful, insightful movie. It is one of the only movies to truthfully look ot love. It is not all flowers and candy, and it does not always resolve itslef in a perfect, go and make your 1.4 kids type of way. The ending is truly cathartic, and a true payoff. The movie is very funny, and at times very frank and even painful. My only complain in this movie is it has less of Jay and Silent Bob than the other movies. If you enjoyed Clerks, Mallrats, and/or Dogma, you'll love this movie. If you have ever been in love, you'll love this movie. If you have a pulse, you'll love this movie.

The Japanime version of "Independence Day" but on Mars!

If you are an Anime fan and have not seen this movie, shame on you! If you are new to veiwing Anime movies than this is a great movie to start with. This movie has a touch of everything that you will find in most Anime movies: Mecha designs, non-stop action, thrilling plot, and the Anime signature; the gratuitous nudity scene.
Yes, this movie runs a bit like the American Movie "Independence Day" in the respects that it is the humans versus the aliens, and we the viewers are right in the thick of it. The cinematography concept literally drops us into the middle of the war on Mars with no clue of what's been going on. And the ending leaves us hanging on wondering which way the war will turn next. A fantastic cross between a war movie and a sci-fi thriller, this movie places the veiwer into the middle of humanity's last hope: a new experimental battleship with a battle hardened captain against a mysterious new ipregnable fortress that is slaughtering the humans in this war.
But for the die hard Anime fans there is the solemn promise that Big Wars actually lives up to its name. The battle sequences are done on such a fashion as to let you realize that there is an ENTIRE WAR going around and that even though the chataracters we are following have an important part in it, they are a far cry form the only ones involved. The characters are identifiable and close to reality in the way that they could easily be our sons, daughters, brothers, and sisters.
The only hard to grasp element is the new mind control technique that the aliens use to convert humans to their side. Nymphomania is the first and most noticiable symptom and the hardest for me to swallow. However, the only two nudity scenes are thankfully brief and (amazingly) used to further the plot of the story towards the inevitable titanic ending of the movie.
Buy this movie. If you can't than rent it. I actually enjoyed this more than I did Independence Day in a lot of respects, and that is saying a lot for a red-blooded american like me! I am honored to be the first to rate this top notch film for and all you movie watchers. Enjoy!!

One of the best movies ever!

Ralph Macchio had just finished playing Johnny Cade in "The Outsiders" also another great movie and decided to play Daniel in The Karate Kid. A story of a teen who arrives in California and as soon as he meets a new girlfriend, the leader of "The Cobras", a karate "dojo", gets into a fight with Daniel. An instructor named Mr. Miyagi (Pat Morita) teaches Daniel the secrets of Karate and self-confidence and self-defense after seeing him getting beat up by the Cobras after a prank Daniel did. This movie is the best martial arts movie of all time. See my review about "Crossroads" also starring Ralph Macchio.

Beautiful, poignant, full of meaning and hope

My favorite film is available on DVD at last! Although only in the US, in region 1 format. I wonder why this hasn't been released in the UK? - What make this film "Charming" is the direction by Lionel Jeffries (Grandpa Potts in Chitty). His other film "The Amazing Mr Blunden" has a similar feel. Jeffries' input gives this adaptation quite a distant and dreamy approach whilst Jenny Agutter's style of acting contributes to that feeling and Sally Thomsett as dippy Phyllis is perfect. Overall a great film with some wonderfull sequences shot on the Keighley and Worth Valley railway. - I've been quite fanatical about the 1970 film for the last 20 years or so, collecting various items, even holding the UK domain name!
Thanks for reading. Mind the train ! ! !

The Thrilling FUNNY GIRL

FUNNY GIRL stars a suspenseful pace, dazzling production values, thoroughly entertaining musical numbers, and a young woman who tickles the soul from the opening scene to the last. Isobel Lennart's topnotch screenplay and expert direction by William Wyler (BEN-HUR) make adapting a Broadway musical to film seem painless. The A-plus DVD (with FUNNY GIRL's original aspect ratio, Overture, Entr'acte after Intermission, and Exit Music) turns the already thrilling FUNNY GIRL into the movie theater rollercoaster of yesterday. (The "Don't Rain On My Parade" sequence pumps the heart like BEN-HUR's chariot race.)

About Yu-Gi-Oh! Vol. 2- Into the Hornet's Nest

I just think that Yu-Gi-Oh! is really cool. Now for this specific episode, it is fun to watch someone duel Wiebel. Wiebel has a whole deck of bug cards. There are some hard times facing Wiebel. If you do not have the right cards, you will definitely lose to Wiebel.

Western Classic

Let me tell you something, I like this movie, but I think that Sam filmed a great deal of it while carrying a foriegn load. ...
Kris Kristoferson and James Coburn sleepwalk through their roles, while Bob Dylan produces the [worst] movie soundtrack of the early seventies. His acting [is bad], too.

Rolling on the floor

You can read other peoples reviews for the plot. I first saw it by accident and thought it was mildly funny, but slow. When the first scene from the final play came on, I almost peed myself. I litterally fell off the couch laughing so hard. I consider that scene one of the Funniest scenes in movie history. You gotta see it just for that scene.
