Blown Away

I went in hoping this wasn't going to be "Armageddon 2" and I was very pleased when I walked out. From what I've heard and read the events that take place are not 100% accurate (mainly with how the Japanese approach the attack), but they are pretty darn close which is to be commendable. The action and sound are fantastic, the acting is great and their sorrow is believable.
I liked it a lot better than "Saving Private Ryan" mostly because after the storming of the beach in Normandy, the movie was kinda slow for me. I really liked Alec Baldwin as Doolittle. He was just how I pictured him in the History Books. Aggressive and looking for revenge as by the example of putting the peace metals on the bombs as well as writing messages on them before the bombing of Tokyo.
I really liked this film. I saw it opening night and sat behind a row of WW2 war veterans, most who sobbed during the bombing of Pearl. (Which was really hard to see) I have the utmost respect for war veterans and I figure if the accuracy of the bombing of Pearl Harbor was good enough for them, it was good enough for me. I'll be buying this on DVD when it comes out. Thank you veterans for all the hard work and sacrifice that you have given us to keep us a free country.

It's good. Don't rent it, Buy it.

It is unfortunate the "Bennifer" publicity phenomena ruined this film's possibility for being Mr. Smith's greatest success. I am ashamed of myself (as ashamed as one can truly be when talking about movie opinions) for ever thinking the film's lack of success might have something to do with its quality.

I am a fan of Kevin Smith's work, I'll see a movie because he wrote it, and I'll buy a comic for the same reason. (But for "Batman" I would not have crossed over to DC, but I had to when he resurrected "Green Arrow.") That said, this is his best film to date. I loved "Mallrats," and his dialogue in "Dogma" is beyond impressive; but this film deserves an Oscar if only for the emotion he gets across in concise, fantastic dialogue this time around.

Mr. Smith did not waste a word in his writing this time around, and films this so we feel at home with this characters, the emphasis is on them and their lives, not the long hallway or the perfectly framed garden view through a window. It is his gift.

The story is sad, moving, and happy (though happy seems too trite of a word) and though it doesn't feel like a roller coaster, you realize you were on a sweet (or bittersweet) ride by the end of the film.

From the DVD extras, and from Kevin Smith's "An Evening with Kevin Smith," it appears they are friends; so you cannot be happy a friend's broken engagement hurt your film's success. If Kevin Smith ever employs Ben Affleck again it will be a true testament to their friendship. I hope he does, because the best performances I have even seen from Ben Affleck are when he is in Kevin Smith's movies - beyond "Chasing Amy," his performance as Bartleby in "Dogma" is his best IMO.

Mr. Smith dedicated this film to his father, and in the DVD Extras he mentions his father was able to see "Jersey Girl" after it was finished. I am glad for them both; there is a lot to proud of in this film.

the best movie yet

The Santa Clause 2 is the film charachter Tim Allen was meant to play as Santa. He gets along well with the other legndaries - like the tooth fairy and Mother Nature, but the race is on to fill the unknown Mrs. Clause in Santa's contract Magic ensues when Molly Shannon, the principal at Charlie's, Santa's School, dates a slimmer Santa. This film has great tension as the deadline approaches for Santa to be married, and the fact that Santa is about half his old size. The special effects and costumes are great at the North Pole, and the comedy is appealing. Ever seen a reindeer in training? But I wonder at the release date, didn't someone notice Christmas is more than a month away. It's a puzzle to their fuzzy logic.

One of the best I have seen!

Firefly is one of the best TV sci-fi series I have seen, if not the best and most entertaining! Excellent plots, superb acting and filming. One wonders why did not they produce more episodes? Are they crazy or what?

Great movie

This movie just rocks...from the opening sequence, you get a hint of the genius working here. Owen Wilson, in my opinion, is one of the brightest comics out there right now. The movie is basically this: that there are two friends, Anthony and Dignan. Dignan's major goal is to start a "crew," to live the life of a crime boss. So they go out on a mission, robbing a store, and it's hilarious to see them working together, bumbling, their dumb ideas, etc. Then, after the robbery, they go on the lamb, which ain't no trip to Cleveland. The movie slows down here, but what do you expect? This movie was created from a short film, done so independently. And the ending, with James Caan, is priceless. The DVD does not have a lot of extra features, just the menus, etc. Hopefully they will re-release this film with more features, since this was released before The Matrix came out on DVD and special features became a staple. But the movie is still worth the purchase.

If you like the Game you?ll LOVE the Movie!

Definitely a great movie and one of my personal favorites, Clue-The Movie, brings to the screen a mystery set in 1954 in a mansion in New England involving an unlikely group of people that has been invited to dinner; one that they will not easily forget. Together they must try and solve a whole list of questions that linger all around. The actors' performances are outstanding, especially Tim Curry's character who as the butler, steals the show. The plot, the costumes, and the 3 different endings, are all wonderful, making this film one of the best of its kind. Moreover, Clue is a movie with strong elements of comedy, tying in McCarthyism and the culture of the early 50's to create a very entertaining film indeed and therefore, a "must see" for those with a passion for mystery and comedy alike! In short, I would definitely line up to watch a sequel, and it would be about time too considering that the movie was made back in 1985!
