The Safety of Objects - movie DVD cover picture
Ambitious puzzle of the human nature!

This a film that must be watched at multiple layers. You can figure out a multidimensional prism, where every face deals with a particular character and diverse approach about the existence's hard reality The impressive edition work and the increasing rhythmic tension can be imagined as frame that progressively shrinks and eventually struggles to every member of those four families whose lives are interweaved.
The dramatic reality evasion experienced by the isolated young boy with his Barbie doll goes beyond a simple metaphor; the miscommunication between father and sons are explicitly shown: the TV as Marshall Mc Luhan stated once, works out as the XX Century babysitter; in the other hand we have a mother breathes loneliness in its purest state. She is in good shape and is powerfully attracted by men much younger than her.
Close plays perhaps, the sharpest and painful role, dealing with her son in vegetative state, and her daughter who has true nightmares with a terrible secret you that will be revealed at the end.
The complex narrative structure is not any obstacle for the viewer, due the life is precisely on this way; an unpredictable, voluntary and randomness events chain.
In the other hand we have a surreptitious statement about the futility of material goods as one of the story's multiple dramatic basis; the amazing fact to maintain your hands on a car during three consecutive days just to guarantee a huge audience is a hard critic to some reality shows, and so the traveling around the market journey to carve in relief some unusual behavior patterns consumer.
The cast was simply extraordinary.
A winner, though may be a not easy going watch film for some viewers.

Star Trek Deep Space Nine - The Complete Fifth Season - movie DVD cover picture
The best Trek ever... volume 5!

The fifth season took on new twists, with the new threat from the Founders. Revelations about characters, and their lives. And, one of the most incredible episodes for die-hard Trek fans of all time.
In one of the greatest time travel episodes, "Trials and Tribble-ations" found the crew of the Defiant visiting the K-9 space station. They happened to arrive just as Captain Kirk and crew (from TOS) were engaged in what was the episode "The Trouble with Tribbles." The set direction, lighting, and fight sequences were all designed to fit seemlessly into the original series episode. All-in-all a fun time.
The serious nature of the season as a whole gave way to a couple of fun episodes. Overall, an excellent season.

Blow (Infinifilm Edition) - movie DVD cover picture

Blow, a Film directed by Ted Demme premiered in 2001 in all theaters. The movie staring Johnny Depp and Penelope Cruz who are both great actors made this movie a success. This movie was based on a true-life story of George Jung and how he became successful over night. George Jung was a notorious drug dealer in America. In fact George makes connections with drug lord Pablo Esbar. Esbar was a Columbia drug lord, he is said to be the most dangerous drug dealer ever. George and Esbar are both millionaires when it came to the drug game. The movie talks about George at a younger age. Georges' father had his own successful construction company. When business was slow for his father, Georges' dad filed for bankruptcy. George Jung at that point decided as a young child, that he always wanted to have money. George Jung started selling Pot which later turn into him selling Cocaine. He transported Cocaine from Columbia to Holly Wood, California. Blow is a interesting an educational movie. What I mean by educational is it shows you ups and downs of the drug game. The most interesting thing about this movie is trying to figure out weather or not, if George would get caught by the law from selling drugs. If you haven't seen this film on DVD then now is the time to see it. I gave Blow two thumbs up and so will you.

an aussie Classic

This film encorporates and illustrates the "tall poppy syndrom" of the Australian culture. It doesn't matter what class you are in society-- every person , when it gets down to the raw basics, is equal -- and everyone has the right to a good life. The humor is great, if you know Aussie, but an American would definately relate. When you experience this great film, you will have many phrases you will go around with -- don't miss it. It will make you proud of anyone who has tried to stand up for something important-- even if it is hopeless or worthless in your own humble opinion. enjoy....

Jordan at his best, Hoskins at his second best

This is Neil Jordan's best film and Hoskins' second best performance after Long Good Friday. The transfer is well up to Criterion standards and the extras illuminating. However, there aappears to be a problem with the sound editing of the DVD: picture and sound aren't precisely synchronized in either of the two copies I've attempted to buy (I've kept neither) -- which renders the experience of watching the DVD more frustrating than it should be. Have others had this problem with their copies?

Bring on the rest

Finally I got series 4 and 5. Even better than the first three. Now that I have watched them I am ready for the next lot. This was one of the few comedy series that got better and better. The characters were developed further and became even closer to our hearts. If there has ever been a better show than this I'd like to know what it is. Why don't they just release all of the show here already. I know they are out in the UK. Maybe I should buy one of those Universal players. Any way, hurry up and release some more. Impatient fan.
