Absolutely fabulous!

I was hooked on this show ever since I saw the pilot air all those years ago. It quickly became my favorite television series and I was so thrilled when I finally got my DVD set. I love sitting back and enjoying some wholesome, down home entertainment. Having grown up in the county myself, miles from the nearest town I find a kinship with the show. I've always thought it would have been nice to live in that time period.

An intriguing plot..

and an awesome movie all around. I really enjoyed this movie. Sean Connery played at his best! The plot pulls you in, and then smacks you in the face! 'Twas quite an enjoyable movie. Sean Connery and Catherine Zeta-Jones seemed like an odd pair at first, but it just added even more intrigue to the plot! I really enjoyed the ending, and hope that there will be a sequel made. YOU HAVE GOT TO SEE THIS MOVIE! :-)

Great movie. Funny as hell.

The first time I saw this movie, I was rolling on the floor from laughing so hard. The actors, storyline, all perfect, especially Matt Frewer who plays... principal everyone despises. Best part: when Miowski(a fat Cheetos addict) takes a leak from the back of the bus right onto a trailing minivan, and then the driver casually turns on the winshield wipers. That part was a classic. Dopers Richie and Dagastino (Dags for short) are great as well. Overall: this is one high school field trip you'll want to take again and again.

A very depressing movie

Depressing yet powerfully real. I just saw this movie the other day and 'My God', I have never really known how bad alcoholism is until I saw this movie. Cage plays a unbelievable role as one with same that problem. And then Shue also plays a amazing role as a hooker with problems on her own. And fate has brought them together to help them solve these immense problems together. I am really big Cage fan and my opinion is this one of his greatest acting ever. The other one would be 8MM. If you haven't seen this movie before and want to, go and get it right now. But be warned as you will be pushed into a reality that most have never seen. The same also goes for 8MM.

Disney Magic Makes SNOW WHITE Classic DVD

I was extremely excited to receive this DVD.... Upon opening it, one gets the feeling that it is truly a special edition. The packaging is very nice: the DVD box is sturdy with two openings for each disk. The pamphlet inside the DVD is gorgeously produced and very helpful.
My first impression is that Disney has spent much time making this DVD user-friendly. There is an abundance of directions and drawings showing you what is on the disk and how to get there. Since there are two disks and a KINGDOM of information to pour through, these directions are very welcome (even to this seasoned DVD-viewer!)
Disney pulls out some familiar faces to make the experience as warm as possible: Disney himself appears in various footage; Angela Lansbury narrates the documentary and provides a "tour" of the disks; Michael Eisner shows up; and Barbra Streisand sings a specially recorded version of "Some Day My Prince Will Come".
SNOW WHITE, the movie, looks gorgeous and, although old fashioned, is quite wonderful. SNOW WHITE, the double-disk, is a lot of information to wade through. I am amazed at the amount of behind-the-scenes film that exists! Disney must have suspected that he was creating a classic - he filmed every aspect of it! I especially enjoy the HALL OF ART section. There are 3 halls of various story art (i.e. "The cottage"; "The castle"; "the Forest"; etc.) Although initially I found it hard to move from hall to hall, I eventually figured it out. The animated HALLS are extraordinary and the art that "hangs" there is incredible -- various renderings and attempts at bringing the story and locales of SNOW WHITE alive. It's even more incredible that Disney Co. held on to these papers for all these years.
Well, in case you can't tell, I highly recommend the special SNOW WHITE disks. You will spend days looking at everything that is included -- or you can opt to spend an hour and a half viewing the original, gorgeous film that started the Disney empire....

Taijiquan, Classical Yang Style DVD (YMAA Tai Chi) Dr. Yang, Jwing-Ming - movie DVD cover picture
Marvelous !! A true Classic !!

I began practicing T'ai Chi fifteen years ago. My first teacher was trained from childhood in China, then Taiwan, in the strict classical Yang Long Form. I began studying with him years later in a major U.S. city -- still Yang Long Form, still classical approach. That was a magical time, a magical experience that will be a part of me for the rest of my life.
Periodic long-distance moves have since interrupted my study several times, but these have also required me to study with teachers of quite a few T'ai Chi styles and levels of expertise. Some were more fun, some more "practical," some much more "martial" in approach, and some were sadly "lightweight."
Dr. Yang, Jwing-Ming's video is truly "the real deal." From the first frame of his performance of the entire Form, I was instantly transported back to my first Teacher's class: not only is the sequence of postures and connecting movements EXACTLY the same as where I began, but the "spirit" and "feel" of T'ai Chi is also the same as it was then. With the wide range of styles and emphases in my classes since, I'd nearly forgotten how "pure" and powerful the classical Yang form truly is!
Other reviews here have accurately described and appropriately praised the comprehensive contents and unsurpassed structure of this wonderful video that is at once a marvelous teaching tool and a true archival record of this ancient art.
I'll summarize my opinion this way:
If you EVER outgrow this DVD, please produce one of your own, so we can all study with you!
Meanwhile, I'm gonna hang with Dr. Yang, Jwing-Ming!!

Meet the Feebles - movie DVD cover picture

And so it begins. One of my all time favorites. There's a whole world inside this strange little movie. When I first saw Meet the Feebles (NOTE: the Spectrum Entertainment/Dead Alive Productions Region 1 DVD edition) I didn't understand half of what was being said by the characters due to the poorly recorded sound, lack of subtitles, and background music being too loud. But something made me come back and watch it again. Maybe it was the amusing dialogue, earthy puppets, and (deceptively) cheap production values - all set against the backstage drama of a variety show. Obviously, a lot went into the making of MTF. Peter Jackson isn't so in love with his work that he lingers on shots too long -which is the pitfall of many filmmakers, amateur or not. Unlike many DIY movies the editing here is swift which keeps the ball rolling. And it only gets better with repeated viewings. You can see that he totally was going for something. It's dark and funny and the fact that someone would even go to the trouble to do all of this should be inspiring to would-be directors. Ultimately, the film has a big heart (like its director) and I'm always sad when it ends!
The DVD I have (the EXACT version I mentioned above) is rather sad. The picture's dark, the sound is bad, and there's no indexing of chapters [no individual scene selection]!!! That said, it's still worth renting if you can find it. That's why I gave it 5 stars. One day some company might do The Feebles justice on DVD: a reasonably good film transfer, better audio, subtitles, and maybe some extras like interviews, commentaries, outtakes, deleted scenes, stills, etc. Perhaps they're already working on it...
Until then..."Somebody call the network...the show will go on!"

Great! The Makers of Tenchi Muyo Strike Another Gold Mine!

I don't know about the next guy, but I think that this series was spot-on fantastic! Made by the same folks who brought us the hilarious Tenchi Muyo, they've got another REALLY good anime on their hands. In the real world, an ordinary boy named Kasuki Yotsuka gets transported to a parallel dimension where a war is going on by a mad scientist bent on taking over the world, but don't let that serious bare-bones plot fool you. If it's done by the guys who did Tenchi Muyo, then you know that it's gonna have a lot of hijinks thrown into the mix. Most of them center around his relationship with the most popular girl in school, Mitsuki Sonada (as well as the Tenchi-esque rivalry with other girls after his lucky self), and her father, a slightly mad scientist, named Ken (as well as his counterpart in the parallel world). It's the "Why, oh why does this stuff happen to me?" Kind of humor, and lovers of Tenchi and El Hazard (which BTW, is done by the same folks who did Tenchi) will love this particular anime... as will lovers of big mecha (that's giant robots for the anime uninitiated)which composes the bulk plot of this anime. And the detailed CGI animation mixed in with this show's vibrant cell animation is quite harmonious. This show, I tell you, has it all! In short, this is one not to be missed, so rent it, buy it, love it! I myself, can't wait for the next volume!
