Absolutely Hysterical!!

I have a very quiet type personality. Many times my husband and children will laugh at something which I will find amusing, but not totally funny. This DVD had me laughing so hard I had tears in my eyes. We all totally LOVED it! I especially liked Bill Engvall. If you like "country" comedy -- you have to see this!

Bach - The Well Tempered Clavier 48 Preludes and Fugues / Hewitt, MacGregor, Demidenko, Gavrilow - movie DVD cover picture
A great insight into Bach through contrasting renditions

The pianists' comments before each piece helped to diffuse a little of the mystery that typically surrounds such musicians. Often, when listening to a musician play, I wonder what goes on in her mind. Is it some arcane thought process that produces this beautiful rendition? Or does she have the same ideas that I do (and I just don't have the skill to
translate it through the instrument)?
I thought that there was just the right balance between showing the pianists' hands and their surroundings. I don't need to see musicians' hands 100 percent of the time. Often
the music is enough.

It was great Judgy Wudgy!

Sorry that some people got Ricky Martin instead of Curly, but for those of us that got the real deal you are certainly enjoying the DVD. The quality of the picture could improve some, but I was pleased to have it. My hope is that all of the Stooges shorts and movies will be put into a multi-volume set that can be purchased seperately or as a cost savings package so that we can enjoy them all.

Jane White is Sick and Twisted - movie DVD cover picture

Any hack can hire a decent cast for a movie backed by a billion dollars (just ask Michael Bay), but only a true artist can combine an eclectic cast of actors with a fun and inventive script. Jane White is Sick & Twisted is such a beast.

Charlie Chaplin: The First National Collection - movie DVD cover picture
A great collection of shorts

If you are a fan of Chaplin, chances are you will like this DVD. If you aren't familiar with Chaplin, this is a great collection to get started with.
This DVD collects Shoulder Arms, Sunnyside, A Day's Pleasure, The Idle Class, Pay Day, and The Pilgrim; all of which are excellent short films. The first four films feature The Little Tramp, Chaplin's best known character. Pay Day and The Pilgrim feature Chaplin as a humble working man and an escaped convict, respectively.
Special features on the DVD include a short "home movie" entitled Nice and Friendly, some unused footage from Shoulder Arms, music credits, and some footage of General Leonard Wood on the set of Sunnyside. The footage of General Leonard Wood is probably my favorite part of the DVD, simply because it shows Chaplin, out of character, giving the general a tour. I sometimes forget that Chaplin was an actor and not really The Little Tramp and it is amazing to see how easily he could slip into character.
I'm not a real videophile, so I'm not all that picky about video quality (if I can see it I'm happy), but I can say that all of the shorts on this DVD are very clear. The sound is good too (not that it really matters since these are silent films, though the music does create atmosphere). The only thing that annoys me about this DVD is the simple navigation system; it doesn't have the nice kind of menus I am used to with most DVDs. However, the content of the DVD is good enough that I can overlook the clunky navigation.
The bottom line: A great collection!

Pacino At His Finest !!

To say Scarface is a masterpiece is an understatement! The brilliance of Al Pacino's (Tony Montana) acting is breath taking. The movies storyline is great, but I think the greatest part is the directing. Brian De Palma has great vision, and if you havent seen Scarface, watch it, I guarantee you will understand how to appreciate great acting, superb casting, and even better directing! Scarface is an owner for any Pacino fan!!!

My name is Chris Ivey. I've met Romero on a couple of occassions. One of my friends Michael had a harder time catching but when he did the reward was sweet. At end of the videotape during the fan signing, Mike Felsher, was one of the lucky people to get talked to. Look for a dark headed big boy with glasses.
Okay, that's my story.

Fascist Doogie Houser claims the Brain Bug is afraid!

We are humans.
The bugs are evil.
A military society ("Service guarantees citizenship.") is the solution to the bug problem.
Lots of killing, satire, and everpresent stupidity.
If you don't take this movie seriously, you will have the best time of your life watching it.
I recommend it highly to society-loathing people with a sense of humor.

The Horror Film Has Grown Up (Again) - & About Time Too

The Others is a triumph of the horror genre, pure and simple. Scary enough for the hardened horror fan, and so beautifully produced that fans of 'mainstream' cinema can appreciate its merits as well. People who are dismissive of the genre should watch this for an abject lesson in top-notch quality supernatural film-making. This is the sort of film that is responsible for creating new horror fans and instilling them with a lifelong love of the genre, such is the success with which it breathes life back into the good old-fashioned ghost story. Acting, writing, direction, photography and design are all superb. Nicole Kidman is excellent but then so is the rest of the cast, including Eric Sykes, appearing in his first horror film since the 1973 classic Theatre of Blood. Sit down, relax in the atmosphere but leave your coat on to keep out the chills.
