This is Kung Fu - movie DVD cover picture

A simply awesome documentary featuring some of the finest displays of Chinese Martial Arts ever captured on film. Although there is not much footage of Jet Li there are many performances from some of China's finest martial artists including:
Yu Shao Wen: who performs an exellent Chang style (Chang Quan) Routine.
Wang Jien Jun: another awesome martial artist like Jet Li, he performs an exellent Staff Routine and a simulated combat sparring set.
Zhao Chang Jun: Awesome Ditang (Ground Tumbling) Routine.
Hao Zhi Hua: China's queen of Kung Fu performing Broadsword and a sparring set.
Li Zhi Zhou: One of my personal favourites performing the best Drunken Sword you will ever see.
and many many more
This is Kung Fu is really for those who have a deep interest in Chinese Martial Arts ("Wushu" as it is known as) and there are not just empty hand styles but just about every Chinese Weapon you can think of. GET IT
P.S: I also strongly recommend Dragons of the Orient which is another documentary which is very similar to this.

Now if they'd just DVD "The Sentinel"

Being, probably, the biggest fan of this intelligent and sexy series, I am psyched that it's finally on DVD! God Bless the producers for getting smart! I don't have to wait for it to be shown on cable again, which is usually out of order. The actors are all superb; in fact, I watch for them in other shows and series. The story lines are intelligent with the mortal struggle the "good vampires" go through; and with the romance and history the writers threw in, made this one of the best stories ever. I rate it up there with HBO's "Sex and the City" series... Forever Knight should have received Emmys, too! I've pre-ordered the first part of the "trilogy" and I own the music soundtrack - be sure to buy that, as well. Enjoy your DVD!

I thought Jawbreaker was one of better movies I've seen. I loved it! Its sort of a mix between a movie like Clueless and another part made up of up sickness. I like Rose McGowan (Courtney) as an actress. They all were good in this comedy. Enjoy!

Absolute Perfection

Ok, what I need to say has already been mostly said. But I just must comment on the absolutely stunning performance of every aspect of this film. All the characters reach their climaxes, the music is stunning, and the action sequences are absolutely butt-clenching (an adjective I would never use on any other film). Ok, other films have won 11 academy awards, but none have deserved it as much as this.
Naturally being a great fan of the book I was a little dissapointed in the way Jackson has edited some minor aspects of the films plot but unlike most 'hard'core fans I am able to appreciate that this is the best ACTUAL film. if you havn't seen the trilogy, you might want to shoot yourself.

Extremely Awesome!

I was lucky to see this movie Wednesday midnight. I thought this movie was excellent. This one is up there with being the best star wars movie yet. Some critics didnt give it the best reviews, but if they had been at the same theatre i was in they would have definately rated it differently. The crowd was cheering and going crazy at some parts of the movie. Not to give too much away, but Anakin going crazy after his mother's death showing the dark-side within, and Yoda's opening up a whole barrel of whoop-... on Count Dooku, completely made everyone in the theatre go insane. The last hour of this movie is just too intense, with a "Gladiator" type fighting scene, then an all out war with the Jedi, droids, and an army of clone soldiers, and then followed by Yoda showing why he is the head Jedi. This movie just has everything, you gotta go out and see this movie, it's just incredible, oh yeah they also kept Jar Jar out of almost all the scenes, who could ask for anything more.

All Time Favorite

First of all, let me say that I've never been a big fan of Bill Murray. While he can be funny at times, his humor seems to be rather pretentious and unsophisticated.
I rented this movie one night on a lark. To say that I was pleasantly suprised would be an understatement. Finally, there exists a film in which Murray culls some of his comedic excesses for the purpose of making a movie that can appeal to moviegoers of all ages.
The plot employs a device similar to the one in "It's A Wonderful Life" or even "A Christmas Carol." Playing a small-city TV newscaster forever in search of a bigger and better broadcasting gig, the obnoxious, shallow, and self-absorbed Murray is sent to cover Groundhog Day in Puxatawny, Pennsylvania. Murray is then inexplicably forced to relive the day over and over again. At first, Murray lives in denial at his circumstances, but his shallowness quickly adapts to the situation as he tries to take advantage of his guilded cage. He uses the carryover of knowledge and experiences gained from his reliving of Groundhog Day to rob an armored car, seduce a woman by learning all about her and then pretending to be an old forgotten friend in a 'later' Groundhog Day, and behave increasingly like an uncouthe idiot during his repeated broadcasts of Puxatawny Phil's (the name of the groundhog) appearance. He knows that regardless of whatever offense he commits, he will emerge unscathed because the day will simply end and be repeated.
However, even someone as shallow as Murray's character begins to learn that his 'victories' are fleeting and ultimately unfulfilling. This emptiness drives him to the point of madness and he eventually tries to kill himself (several times). He actually succeeds each time, but reawakens in the same hotel bed every morning to the tune of the same Sonny and Cher song, "I've Got You, Babe," on the radio.
Finally, Murray realizes that perhaps he would be better off putting the time to better use. He learns to play the piano (going from beginner to an accomplished player in who knows how many Groundhog Days), reads books on philosophy, takes up ice sculpting, and actually tries to get to know and help the people in the small town around him without the intent of taking advantage of them.
Only then is he finally released from his prison.
Murray's transformation from scoundrel to all-around good guy is done very well, and there are some genuinely moving moments in the movie--such as when, despite his repeated best efforts, he fails to save the life of a homeless elderly man that he knows is destined to die. It is in these scenes that Murray shows he does have the ability to handle an acting role that requires him to be sincere and serious in a convincing manner.
The supporting cast is excellent, including Andie McDowell and Chris Elliot--both of whom don't know what to make of Murray's sudden conversion (which, from their perspective, occurs in only one day).
Highly recommended. Certainly Bill Murray's best movie to date (including "Caddyshack" and "Stripes").

A Tangled Web

A truly fascinating film, with a fascinating premise, really stylish production values, an intricate and exciting plot, and fine performances---and it all starts so simply, before quickly becoming thrillingly-complex. Jules, a young mail carrier, is fascinated by a temperamental American opera singer who has never permitted her voice to be recorded. One evening, he sneaks a high-quality recording device into one of her concerts---which catches the attention of a consortium of shady record producers. Unbeknownst to poor Jules, a desperate whistleblower, with important imformation about a web of governmental corruption, has slipped a vital piece of evidence into his carrier bag, so that a second batch of crooks is also after him. He gets the chance to meet his idol in person, and also gets involved with a young shoplifter with the strangest, almost-inert philosopher of a boyfriend...But can his friends rescue him from the nasty folks who are after him? Can he rescue himself?
DIVA is really a marvelously-tangled web: friendship and deceit, obsession and honesty, complexity and comedy, violence and artistry, with one of the most best chase scenes in all of cinematic history. This is one of those movies that I love to recommend to people...So much so that I'm now on my third copy, as people don't seem to want to return it...

The Godfather, Part III - movie DVD cover picture
I don't see why people hate this movie so much.

A great movie takes your heart, ties it in a knot, chews it up, spits it out, tosses it in the gutter, before finally untying it and putting it back into your chest.
Godfather I did that.Godfather II did that.and guess whatGodfather III did that also.
The movie did not deserve to be so harshly critiqued. And hey, even Sofia Coppola wasn't that bad. she had a wooden line here and there, but besides that she was good. The movie always has the sense of darkness and operatic betrayal that the Godfather movies had. And the ending...boy what an ending. Its one of those endings where you know its going to happen but you've convinced yourself its not and then when it does happen, it HAPPENS! and the parallel to Vito's death at the very end. ::shivers::People should go lighter on the movie. In these days of bad cinema galore, the critics should ENJOY such masterpieces as these.
In short, Godfather I started something great. Godfather II continued it with passion, and Godfather III finished it grandly.
