Very inspiring

Honestly, it took me three watches to truly appreciate this movie. I'm glad I did it. "Before Night Falls" shows the true gruesome reality of how homosexuals have been treated. Javier Bardem does not hold back. For this, he deserved his Oscar nomination for Best Actor. Those who have never lived through this or any kind of homophobic harassment may not believe that this really happened. It did.

This is how they should all be!

This DVD nears perfection. It has everything you could possibly be interested in, and and even more. From the different versions of the film to the alternate ending to the Easter Eggs (which include various 'on the spot' new coverage videos) this DVD rocks. I honestly cannot think of anyone who wouldn't like this DVD based solely on its' special features. Yes, the story was a little pat, but come on... Definitely recommended!!!

Terrific ensemble performance.

The instant this film is re-released on video I want to be in line to immediately snap it up. The cast blends up-and-coming comic actors alongside great established talent with a perfect balance. Once the story gets rolling it's one gag after another. A comic masterpiece!

Amazing! Spectacular! (No pun intended...)

What can I say that already hasn't been said about Spider-Man 2? It's been praised by critics and fans alike, and of course completely misunderstood by every moronic 17 year old who doesn't understand substance and plot, and is only looking for explosions and fight sequences. Granted, the CGI effects are an absolute triumph, and to me set a new standard for what other super-hero/action movies should look like. The train sequence was edge-of-your-seat stuff!

But the real beauty of this movie is the presentation of the story. The feel has matured greatly and rightfully so. It's a very different mood than the first installment. The exploration of Peter Parker's character is well done and fans of the comic (like myself) know about his struggles and sometimes comedic screw-ups. They conveyed how he coped with being a nerdy kid with every day problems very nicely. Alvin Sargent did a tremendous job on the screenplay and the script was top-notch.

This picture has 'RAIMI' written all over it... and what a stylish graffiti it is. The hospital scene is classic Sam all the way, borrowing (as best as I can sum it up) the 'creepy, dark, scoreless, over-the-top impossible angle' scene. And the chainsaw! (Evil Dead II comes to mind.)

The cast couldn't be any more perfect if Jesus himself would have assembled it. Maguire, Dunst, Molina, Franco, Harris and Simmons are flawless. The brief cameos by Cliff Robertson and Willem Dafoe were also very cool, and unlike the Batman series, represent that these movies correlate with each other and never lose touch from past events progressing to the present time.

Spotting other cameos from Raimi's past (which seems to be an artform these days) is fun too. Look out for Brent Briscoe, Danny Hicks, John Paxton, Scott Spiegel, The Delta 88(!) and of course the always entertaining Bruce Campbell.

Spider-Man 2. Great summer movie. Great action. Great comic feel. Great Love story. Just a damn fine picture. It never gets too action-packed, campy, funny, or sappy to overstay it welcome, something Raimi continues to demonstrate a talent for. (Top it all off with the perfect fitting Elfman score.) Sam has truly outdone himself and somehow needs to top it with Spider-Man 3. At this rate though, I don't see him or this franchise slowing down anytime soon.

Destined For Glory

Emotional connection with the audience, that is what the characters in the movie Spider-Man have, and Spider-Man 2 will have. Simply by looking at the preview for Spider-Man 2 (contained in the Big Fish DVD) you will know this. Unlike many big budget, special-effects-dense movies the characters are not a backdrop to the effects. The characters will be the reason that people will stand in long lines to see this movie. If you ever read the Spider-Man comic book series you would know that Toby Maguire's portrayal of Peter Parker is a perfect fit and powerful. Kristen Dunst is the real Mary Jane and somehow I feel she is even better than the character developed in the comic book series.
When I see a movie I want to remember the characters and identify with them. If you identify with the characters then you identify with the plot. That is the main ingredient in making a movie successful and destined for glory. That is where Spider-Man 2 is heading.

For the girls

What? Why such bad reviews? This movie is funny and well-made. Diaz, Applegate and Blair were (in one word) fantastic. The sexual humor CAN NOT CONTAIN your laughter. One of the best parts would have to be the men's bathroom scene. It was hilarious! That isn't the only one though. There are ALOT more.
Underneath all the comedy, the love is true. Christina Walters (Cameron Diaz) is the 'love 'em and leave 'em' type of girl. But one night when she finds who she thinks is Mr. Right (Thomas Jane), Christina decides to chase after him with her best friend Courtney (Christina Applegate). Also starring: Selma Blair, Jason Bateman and Parker Posey.
To really understand the love, relationship and emotion, you have to look beyond what you're already given. I know that alot of girls will understand it, but guys may have a hard time. So far, "The Sweetest Thing" is the sweetest movie of the year. (Also, I never did care for Usher's "U Got it Bad" song until I saw this movie.)

The very best season of Buffy--do NOT miss it!

I am not sure if it's the fact that there is a collection in this season of every great character (including a terrific one episode appearance by Spike) but you also have the best and most villain created for the show--The Mayor of Sunnydale who wants to ascend and becoma a giant snake. This is the best show on television and this is the season that cemented that.

Very Delicious!, A Vampire can be Prince Charming!

Ahh! Yes there is such a thing as a romantic vampire movie!, besides Bram Stockers Dracula. I want to fall in love all over again with Julian Luna (Mark Frankel). Julian is Prince of the city, set in modern day San Fransico, leader of 5 vampire clans. The Kindred draws you into their world, with suspense, intrigue, and romance, leaving you spellbound!, wanting more. I especialy love the whole saga of Julian's slow courtship of Caitlan (Kelly Rutherford) a newpaper reporter. Their love finally ignites into firey passion in the last episode. I have been dying to get my hands on a copy of the show for years now. When I saw it on DVD I grabed it in my hands and bought it instanly! I really wish the show had lasted years instead of the few airings that appeared on FOX between May-June 1996. However my heart was absolutely broken to find out that only a few months after the show aired Mark Frankel was killed in a motercycle accident in London. Rest in peace, you are missed.
