7th Doctor comes of age

An excellent story that goes some way to rescuing the McCoy years from irrelevance. There is much to savour, in particular the especially menacing Daleks and the splendid special effects all played out against a backdrop of swinging London. The production team did a great job in realizing the period setting with the BBCs trademark panache. The direction is tense with spalshes of humour thrown in. This was without doubt McCoy's finest outing as the Doctor and was the last hurrah of the BBC produced Dr. Whos.

Justice In The Territory

It is extraordinarily difficult to instill principles into a human soul, and I truly believe that, for Hollywood to accomplish this, the movie must sincerely be great. This film is just that. I know without a shadow of a doubt that it's the best movie I have ever laid eyes on. The atmosphere that John Cusack creates around his character Myrl Redding takes my breath away. Myrl's justifiable audacity and unstoppable character renewed my own sense of the truths I was taught under my family. This movie reminded me that deep down it's not the tangible things we should fight for, it's the abstract ideas of truth and right. Those are the most vital concepts we need to learn. I was tremendously impressed with all involved but especially with Cusack. I was not surprised at his greatness as an artist in this because I have come to expect nothing less from him. I never walk away from his movies unsatisfied with his ability as an actor to believably portray his characters. But he took my level of respect for him (which was already high) to a new level. He is obviously by far the best actor in Hollywood, and I only hope that he continues with pieces that challenge the mind and heart as this one has done. Do NOT miss this film!!

Wonderful Movie

I went to this movie expecting a pretty good movie with my favorite actress, Sarah Michelle Gellar in it. Instead I was blown away by one of the best movies I have ever seen. All of the actors turned in fantastic performances and the plot twist at the end was so very sad and emotional. Definately a movie worth owning and watching again and again for years to come.

Best movie ever made!!!

Seriously folks, if you can stomach a little blood, this movie is an essential to not only see, but to own. Tis one of the best movies I've ever seen! Tis stuffed with spirit, humor, truely beautiful sword-fight choreography, and more blood than I've seen since Hard Boiled ;) If I were to chose the Oscar winners, Kill Bill would win Best soundtrack, directer, actress, and movie (Isn't going to happen of course, but there's wishfull thinking fer ya) Anyway, great movie and I couldn't recommend anything higher!

A Beautiful Love Story

For those of you who have read my review of "Sailor Moon R: The Promise Of The Rose", you already know I am a completely obsessed Sailor Moon fan (moonie). This movie earns my highest rating for different reasons than "Promise". "Promise" was a much more action-based movie, while "Hears In Ice" is much more a love story. With love between Kakeru and his astronaut girlfriend, Serena and Darien, and others, it combines to make a really sweet movie. The animation is well done (as usual), and all the attacks are wonderfully drawn. Also added in are touches of humor throughout the movie, which make for an even more enjoyable watching experience. This is defintely one for the video collection. Don't it!

Delightful and smart movie

This movie is a true revelation. You`ll face a fight against the death but not tearful, just braveful. The amazing script is simply extraordinary. All the cast is superb, specially Marie Josee Croze, winner in Cannes 2003 like best actress.Watch this film and consider it from now a new classic canadian cinema. And remeber Tarkovski`s statement: The death doesn`t exist, just the fear to it.

I think this movie is one of the best anime movies ever made and that I have ever seen. This goes beyond the traditional anime style of mech, duel monstersor or martial arts crap kind of movies. Grave of the Fireflies is a very touching and emotional movie that takes anime to a very high step. This movie has an amazing story with alot of support in it. It has a very strong message. Keeps you on the screen from beginging to end. I highly reccomend this movie to any who likes war movies or anime.

Kevin Spacey Rules!

I think that Kevin Spacey really is the best part of this film. He is so incredibly talented and human in his role of Prot, an alien from the planet, K-PAX. This is the kind of film where by the end you are contemplating what the truth is. That said, I will not say much more about the outcome of the story.I think that K-PAX as a film is an okay movie. It's not the greatest of the year. So why do I give it five stars?SPACEY!! This is an actor who loves his craft and seems genuinely happy doing it. He takes on a project and dives into it full force, putting his heart and soul into every role he takes on. He is very passionate about his work. For those diehard fans of Kevin Spacey, this film is worth the rental fee. He is so wonderful in this. He truly brings the character of Prot to life, and you feel that you really know him. He delivers his lines so perfectly, and he has a great range of emotion. He isn't afraid of anything. This is a true professional actor!
K-PAX is the story of a psychiatrist, played by, in my opinion, a miscast Jeff Bridges. Jeff plays Dr. Mark Powell. A man that is so into his job that he loses his first wife, and his son won't even talk to him. He is remarried to Rachel, played by Mary MacCormack. They have two daughters together. So, I believe Mark is trying to be more into family, but he is really just into his work so deep he often ignores them. He especially gets into his work when he gets a new patient, Prot, a self-proclaimed alien, who appears as a human. Prot's knowledge of astronomy is incredible, and impresses the colleagues of Powell's astronomer friend. Dr. Powell is amazed at Prot. He is totally enthralled by this patient and spends a great deal of his time trying to help him get mentally well. Prot seems perfectly fine except for being an alien from the planet K-PAX.All the while, the other patients are totally amorous of Prot. He wants to help, and does help to cure a few of the other patients.
Dr. Powell gets so close to Prot that he invites him over to his house. This is when the trouble starts. Water, sprinklers... and Prot goes from a calm man pushing a little girl on a swing to a raving lunatic.Of course, Powell only gets more entrigued and wants to try hypnosis. Through hypnosis, Powell is able to learn of Prot's life and the truth...or does he?Even though it is a thought provoking film, Jeff Bridges character is just confusing. It is never made clear to the audience that he is good. Sure, he is a doctor of psychiatry, but that doesn't make him a saint. His priorities are out of whack, but he wants to help people too. Maybe we aren't supposed to like him but we want to? Also, Bridges looked tired and bored in this movie. His acting was terrible.I digress. Spacey is worth watching. It's an interesting enough story, and I can't say enough good things about Spacey's performance.
