65 Years Over the Rainbow and down the Yellow Brick Road

One of the Greatest and most legendary films in cinema history, one of the greatest fantasy and musical films ever and the first color movie. The Wizard of Oz, the masterpiece that gave us one of one of cinema's greatest leading ladies Judy Garland, who won our hearts with the immortal song "Over the Rainbow" that made AFI's # 1 greatest movie songs of the 20th century. The unforgetable and magical story of Dorothy Gale, a young girl from Kansas who gets whisked by a tornado along with her dog Toto and her farmhouse to the magical land of Oz, where she
lands in Muchkinland, home of little singing people, where she also meets Glinda the Good Witch of the North and where she meets her nemisis the Wicked Witch of the West. Dorothy is desperate to get back to Kansas and the only person who can help her is the great and powerful Wizard of Oz in Emerald City, Dorothy and Toto set off for Emerald City, but on the way they run into a talking Scarcrow who is in need of a brain, she takes scarecrow with her and toto, then they run into a Tin Man who is in need of a heart and finally they run into a Cowardly Lion who is in need of courage, the famous foursome is complete and Toto of course is with them. They soon get to Emerald City, but before the Wizard would grant their requests they would have to get the broom of the Wicked Witch. They get the broom after Dorothy accidentally pours water on the witch, she was really puting out the fire on scarecrow. They get their requests and Dorothy and her new found friends say farewell, they had love for Dorothy and Dorothy had love for them. Her and Toto get back to Kansas. after 65 years this masterpiece's magic and triumph is still timeless. The Film is still one of the most magical films of the 20th century, this broke grounds in special effects, makeup, casting and of course it's biggest trick is going from black & white Kansas to technicolor Oz. This is a movie spells Hollywood. It's sensational. Judy Garland's beauty and sensational voice and performace is resurrected when you watch this classic. Wether it's 1st time or your 65th it's time to experience the most beloved fantasy film of all time, time to walk down the yellow brick road. Time to Go Somewhere Over the Rainbow, because this film will bring enchantment to audiences for generations to Come. It Embodys Hollywood with a brain, a heart and some nerve.

Now I know who they are...

As someone who had nonchalantly ignored the presence of X-Men comics as I searched for my Star Wars, or Star Trek ones... I found this movie to be enlightening. A great introduction to those unfamiliar with the premise. I have a soft spot for Hugh Jackman (I saw him on stage in 'Sunset Boulevard' a couple of years ago), and the presence of Patrick Stewart was a bonus too!
The story had enough humour, wit and "in-jokes" to keep me amused and a good balance of 'action' without overdoing it.
I for one will be waiting anxiously for the sequel/s... and I may even start paying attention to the X-Men aisle of my comic shop too..

You are my sons. I will carry you in my heart wherever I go.

This is not a horrible movie, but it is far from good. I will discuss the bad first.
1. The characters were terrible. While this film has a big cast, many of the them only have a few scenes, and those even with longer screen time are not developed. There's nothing to these guys at all.
2. The voice-overs are obnoxious. Not only are they often incoherent, but the thoughts are pointless at best. Voice-overs work well in books, not on film.
3. The story: Who needs it? This is a paper thin story. Lots of time is just wasted where there's absolutely nothing going on, which brings me to
4. Overlength. If there ever was a movie that needed to be cut, it is this. This could've been done far more effectively in two hours.
5. This film is not useful for a student of history. Little to no insights.
6. The ending was very anti-climactic.
The good:
1. Excellent visuals. The cinematography was great, and there were some very good action scenes as well. The action had a very grand, sweeping feel to it. While it's not up to par with the realism of Spielberg's Private Ryan, it still was well done. Also, the DVD picture quality was first rate.
2. Excellent sound. The gun fire and explosions were awesome, and I don't even have 5.1. You'll definitely be impressed here.
That's about it. I highly recommend that you skip this and watch Saving Private Ryan instead. Or even Full Metal Jacket. The Thin Red Line is too long, with no point, and bad characterizations.

I can't believe someone actually made a film about Carrington and Lytton Strachey! Delicious! It is slow (as another reviewer said), but that's what makes videos so nice. Watch it over several days. Pryce IS Lytton Strachey and now I want someone to make a movie of his life and Pryce has to play him again! The movie also gives a tantalizing glimpse of Ottoline Morrell, so I hope someone will make a movie of her life, too (of course, Pryce will have to come back to play L. Strachey again...). The soundtrack to this film is beautiful. I am grateful this film was made and to the actors for bringing these people to life. I hope the film will become available again.

Absolutely wonderful.

I think that this film has some great songs, especially the Judy solo, Get Happy. I think that Gene Kelly does his best also, with Gloria DeHaven doing well. However, the star has to be Judy as she is the all time greatest entertainer.

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie even with the breaks --
I have to laugh as the only reason I purchased the movie was because of Joe Lando.
I have enjoyed his acting and this is the 3rd one of his that I have purchased [outside of Dr. Quinn].

This is not a high powered movie but the plot was understandable and the action not impossible and the characters seemed realistic.

Just good entertainment -- what more can you ask for on a Sat. night.

I like Samurai Showdown! don't listen to these reviews!

I just saw this movie and it was great. I have the movie dubbe in english not english subtitles. When I bought it today, I was amazed at the animation and when Haohmaru defeats Earthquake andGenan was done beautifully. Although, what was weird is that Ukyowas on the cover but not in the movie, you only see Ukyo at the Japaneese credits(weird huh?)anywase. A good movie, and a good video game.
