5 stars for Radiohead fans!

If you're not a fan of Radiohead, this DVD may not be for you.
If you are a fan, this DVD is necessary! It gives so much insight to the OK Computer album and the band members.
In pure documentary style, we are placed backstage, onstage, and just about everywhere Grant Gee can find a place for a camera. Some of the DVD ventures into pure works of art that are strange and unexplainable just like Radiohead's music. For example, an interviewer asks Ed O'Brien if he likes science fiction and then before he can answer, the screen flashes to a strange futuristic structure and then to a completely different scene.
It almost feels as though Radiohead have directed this video because of the strange sense of humor that perfectly matches theirs. However, about midway through the film, we realize that is definitely not the case because we start to see the band (specifically Thom) lose their composure. Dealing with the touring, interviews, reviews, and the obvious fear of how to follow up the magnificent OK Computer, the audience is given front row seats to the crippling music business. This can be funny at times, but it is actually pretty scary to see just how un-human the music industry is. It is very strange to think of the comparisons between Meeting People Is Easy and the album. It is almost like they are living the prophecy they recorded the prior year.
Highlights of this DVD include cool live performances, Thom tantrums, making-of the "No Surprises" video, unreleased songs "Big Ideas" & "Follow Me Around", and many other cool little things that Grant Gee adds.
Just like a Radiohead album, I find something new in this DVD each time I watch it. Great stuff!

Cher - The Farewell Tour - movie DVD cover picture

Anyone who does not think Cher is the true Diva of all time is thoroughly confused and misinformed. She paved the way for all the other wannabes....except she did it with class not crass like....ahem...Madonna, Britney etc. There is only ONE authentic diva and it is Cher. This is a brilliant overview of her career and shows her many faceted sides. A tender memory of "Sonny and Cher" included in it. This perfomance starts with Gayatri Mantra that, if you look it the goddess of music and the arts etc, and tells of the link between all life (as does her song "A Different Kind Of Love Song",
MANTRA: Aum Bhur Bhuva Svah Tat Savitur Varenyam Bhargo Devasya Dhimahi Dhiyo Yo Naha Prachodayat
O Lord, You are the protector of life and of breath, dispeller of miseries and bestower of happiness. You are the creator and the most acceptable intelligence, possessing eternal qualities. May Your qualities and Your inspiration pass to us.
This is truly a gift from Cher..but you have to research that mantra and see what else it says to see the connectedness to Cher and her life and this performance. It is not mentioned on the video...but being I have to know the purpose everything and what the relevanceis...I knew Cher was saying something to all of us so of course I looked it all up.
Awesome costumes , awesome dancers and performers...AWESOME PERFORMANCE!

Different from the original, but still very effective.

Ever since John Carpenter's ground-breaking genre work Halloween was released in 1978, many filmmaker's have tried to capture it's feel and atmosphere. Despite Carpenter's presense on Halloween 2 (as producer and co-writer), the film was still too thin and lacked any atmosphere at all. We would still have to sit through four more films before seeing Halloween get the sequel it deserved. Steve Miner's beautifully photographed film lacks any Carpenter-esque nuances but still packs enough scares and powerful performances to have it rate right up there with the original. Jamie Lee Curtis and Josh Hartnett are both very good in their underwritten roles and the unexpected ending finally brings some sense of closure to what is easily the best horror franchise out there. I highly recommend this film.

24...Best Show On Tv?

24 is the best show on tv right now. But i do agree...its different watching the dvd rather than on a regular tv broadcast. Season 3 is now over, and i remember waiting week after week to see what was going to happen, just longing to know what was going to happen next. But i also remember, buying Season 1 a few months ago, watched it ALL in 16 hours..Took me 2 days...11 hours straight on day, and 6 hours straight the next day. I told myself i was only going to watch 1 dvd. Then i HAD to put in the next dvd to see what was going to happen. I was addicted. Now i have to buy season 2. Ive not seen that one yet. And then buy season 3 when it comes out. Its just such an amazing sitcom. I dont see how anyone could put it down, really.

I could see this movie again and again!

I truly feel this is a cult classic comedy. Perhaps the underdog comedy of the 80's. You really need to watch it a couple of times to catch some of the subtle lines you may otherwise miss from laughing out loud at the more obvious lines.
Buy this movie, invite some friends over and enjoy!!
