This is one of my favourite films. It's actually indescribable! It must be watched when a person is in the proper frame of mind to value and appreciate it satisfactorily.

Global Warming... Warning Earth!!

This is a new way to destroy the world. No alien invasions (Independence Day), and big lizards (Godzilla), the new villans: the humans. We are destroying our planet, and this is one of some things that will destroy it.

I have bought yesterday the region 4 edition, here in Mexico, and the metal-package is outsanding. The two discs, widescreen edition and the metal-removable-lithograpic in 3-D in the front are very good. I have bought Independence Day and Stargate and the packages are too amazing, thanks to the design crew.

Response to an earlier review.

G. Huntsman, you seem to be missing some points here.
First- even though the Captain claims that he has been with his men for two years- not always do you get to know the fellow soldiers, thus when an important character dies somewhere other than the usual ending- thats the reality. Other reality is that after a while one might stop caring to see others around him dying.
All the movies that have well developed characters- predictable, boring, far from reality.
Mersmerizing film.

WAVES Virtual Vacations DVDs

I have the following WAVES: Virtual Vacations DVDs ...
- The Best Caribbean Beaches
- The Best Virgin Island Beaches
- Hawaiian Dreams
- The Best Florida Beaches

I just received my DVDs today and love them so much that I had to hurry to write a review. The quality of the DVDs is BEAUTIFUL. I feel like I'm almost there on the beach and listening to the ocean in person. The DVDs are taking me back to my recent cruise where the first and last thing I heard each morning was the sound of the ocean.

These DVDs are going to be PERFECT when I'm relaxing and falling asleep or even just reading a book or walking on my treadmill. They're an instant escape for your mind to a happy, tranquil place.

I hope everyone enjoys them as much as I am going to!

Jodie Foster

I've never been a big Foster fan, but when I saw this movie I was impressed. Jodie starred in this movie when she was a teenager. The movie is mainly about a girl whose father and mother have seemingly abandoned her, and she's left alone to fend off nosy teachers, and a would-be child molester. Although it seems Foster's character has it hard, her sagacity is amazing- -for Foster's the smoothest kid ever...nothing in this movie is what it seems.

Stuck with Me

Director David Cronenberg and lead actor Fiennes do a dead-on job of not only showing the viewer, but by sucking the viewer into the life of a schizophrenic. This portrait of a schizophrenic is an expressionistic piece of art. Watching this, I couldn't help but be moved by the sheer emptiness, and frustration of Fienne's character as he recollects his past, and tries to come to terms with a murder commited in the family. The acting is superb by Miranda Richardson, Fiennes, Gabriel Byrne, and the kid who played Fiennes' charchter as a boy. Those familiar with Cronenberg films will recognize this as one of his right away, as it is shot as only he can think of. The directing, the set, the camera angles, the minute details all add to this poignant world of layers, it leaves a feeling of helplessness..you will realize just how creepy this movie is in the following days, as it lingers on. A certain must-see for all lovers of fine film.

The Flaming Lips - The Fearless Freaks - movie DVD cover picture
Inspiring and entertaining.

By random luck, I happened to catch this movie in the theatre (though it's apparently
been on DVD for quite some time). Man oh man. This here film is quite an experience.
And, as both a pretty serious fan of the Flaming Lips, I have to say this thing
works on a lot of levels.

First of all, it a damn entertaining movie. I mean, these guys *are* freaks. No
doubt about it. And I probably laughed more during the first half of this movie
than in a dozen Hollywood 'comedies.' Wayne and Co. just make these off the cuff
statements that are so absolutely, mind-blowingly absurd that it's pretty much
impossible not to laugh. And Wayne, careening about his yard in green galoshes, is
an awe-inspiring image. And, duh, the music, is absolutely fantastic.

Second, as the movie progresses, thing actually get rather moving. The mileau (sp?)
of OK City, at least the locales that these folk grew up in, isn't the best of
places. Watching the movie you get the sense that the Lips were damned lucky to
make it out alive and more or less functional. And catching glimpses of the people
who didn't - Wayne and Steven's brothers - is kind of heartbreaking. And then, when
the movie takes a long interlude into Steven's heroin use, in particular the lengthy
scene where Steven pretty much hits rock bottom, on camera, the result is rather
powerful.

But above all, and third, as an aspiring musician, this movie is inspiring. Watching
the Lips go from barely competent, if deeply weird, punks, to, as far as I'm concerned,
one of the most relevant and interesting bands in the U.S. is the sort of thing
that gives this wannabe psych/prog rocker hope. This is the sort of movie that,
if I'm feeling somewhat less than confident about what I'm doing musically, I can
pop in the old DVD player and get an instant recharge from. Watching it makes me want
to make music. And to do odd things in public.

I'd recommed this, without a doubt, to any fan of the Flaming Lips. And to anyone with
even a passing interest in good music. And, for that matter, to pretty much anyone.
I dig.
