5 Stars isn't enough!

I have owned this movie for many years now, and I still laugh every time I watch it. Quite possibly one of the most comically smart films to ever come out (along with "Airplane"). This is a MUST HAVE for everyone's video collection. You will not regret it.

Shackleton's Antarctic Adventure (Large Format) - movie DVD cover picture
What a guy!

I did not have the privilege of seeing this in an IMAX theatre; rather, I borrowed the DVD from the library. In its 41 minutes, I was riveted and in complete awe. The photography of that very mysterious Antarctica was exquisite: the 2000/01 photography as well as the original. I cheered the great Shackleton and his crew, but was concerned about their faithful dogs (I'm not a PETA freak, I just like good dogs). I know there are other, longer and more detailed versions of Shackleton's trip. I'm happy to have seen this version. It was concise, and told me enough to know that Shackleton is a great man, an adventurer to be revered and admired in perpetuity. A bleak adventure, children should see this as a lesson in perseverence and fortitude. I'm humbled.

perfection

a welcome, if overdue, rerelease ... one of sondheim's finest works, a pulitzer prize winner. bernadette peters and mandy patinkin are simply wonderful, and sondheim's music and lyrics have never been more passionate, witty, or downright funny. the best substitute for not being able to see the original cast on stage.

This movie did "Gone With the Wind" justice!

As a HUGE fan of "Gone with the Wind", I love this TV mini-series. I remember watching it when it first came on in 1994 and I liked it back then and I like it now. Joanne Whalley-Kilmer and Timothy Dalton did "Rhett" and "Scarlett" justice. Scarlett did grow up. She learned in the sequel that money is not the most important thing and she stopped being selfish.
This sequel did the original justice. I was not disappointed at all!!!! It's not that bad...it's not bad at all!!!!

Devdas- An Instant Classic

I can't even begin to describe how amazing this movie is! Firstly, if anyone can tell me when the DVD comes out, that'd be great...it was supposed to release this weekend and I even invited 15 people to come over and watch it, but it just didnt release! That was frustrating. This movie is so breathtaking that I wrote my college essay for NYU on it. its visually stunning, sounds beautiful, the dialogues are brilliant...i'm an avid hindi film watcher, and this simply takes the cake. I don't think any other film will be able to surpass Bhansali's masterpiece.

Another part of the fantastic garfield phenomenon

Garfield and Friends IMO was one of the best saturday morning cartoon shows to ever air. It is great to see them being released on DVD and now with volume 3 there is even more joy. While I wish we could have commentary for these episodes and perhaps some extras (such as CBS saturday morning trailers and promos etc...) It is good to see that the U.S. Acres quickies have been added back to make the sets complete. Here's what to expect from volume 3 which has some great cartoons including DJ Jon, Squeak previews, and Mystery guest which always gets me laughing that even Jon can't figure out his own cat is the mystery guest on the farm. There's also quite a few here which I don't remember seeing on Toon Disney or remember much of either.:

Disc 1:
Odielocks and the Three Cats; Quack to the Future; Beddy Buy; Count Lasagna; Mystery Guest; Rodent Rampage; Feline Felon; The Legal Eagle; The Cactus Saga; DJ Jon; Cornfinger; Five Minute Warning; Wonderful World; The Orson Awards; The Garfield Workout; All Things Fat and Small; Robin Hog; Hare Replacement; Stick To It; Orson In Wonderland; For Cats Only; Mistakes Will Happen; The Well Dweller; The Wise Man.

Disc 2:
Star Struck; Election Daze; Dirty Business; Moo Cow Mutt; Big Bad Buddy Bird; Angel Puss; Trial & Erro; An Egg Citing Story; Supermarket Mania; The Legend of Cactus Jupiter; Birthday Boy Roy; Jukebox Jon; Squeak Previews; Dr Jekyll, Mr. Wade; A Tall Tale Frankenstein Feline; Weatherman Wade; Fill-in Feline; Polar Pussycat; Over the Rainbow; Remote Possibilities; Night of the Living Laundromat; Fast Food; Cash and Carry.

Disc 3:
Speed Trap, Flights of Fantasy; Castaway Cat; Mind Over Matter; Orson at the Bat; The Multiple-Choice; Galactic Gamesman Garfield; Sly Spy Guy; The Thing That Stayed; Bouncing Baby Blues; The Ugly Duckling; Learning Lessons; Robodie II; For Butter or Worse; Annoying Things; Guaranteed Trouble; Fan Clubbing; A Jarring Experience; The Idol of Id; Bedtime Story Blues; Mama Manicotti; The Pizza Patrol; The Son Also Rises; Rolling Romance.

I'm just waiting now for Picnic Panic and my collection will be complete. Keep them coming Fox!

Great mini-series

This was really a great movie. I love Jerry Butler, and the interviews at the end with the producers, directors and stars adds much to the whole experience.

Christina Aguilera - My Reflection - movie DVD cover picture
Compulsory purchase for fans

This 2nd video of Christina Aguilera is much, much better than her 1st video. It has better production, 4 music videos and of course, actual undubbed concert footage. There is a considerable amount of speaking done by Christina Aguilera here. She talks eloquently on her music before the start of almost every song in the concert (and quite a lot she addresses to the audience!). In fact, I found her demeanour to be mostly that of being earnest and down-to-earth; not much of the coquettish diva attitude surfaced. She seemed like one "mature" musician out of the multitude of teen acts out there. The selection of songs here was very good. Not only are there the usual picks from the albums, Christina Aguilera also performs "At Last", "Climb Every Mountain" and "Al Right Now", all of which are not found on her commercial CD releases. Her voice was in tip-top condition - she hit the high notes especially well in the ballads and there were interesting improvisations to some of her songs (e.g. I Turn To You has a more soulful ending). The duet with Brian McKnight, however, was a bit uncalled for. Brian McKnight sounded like he was imitating Christina Aguilera's vocal style and was overusing his falsetto tones. Interspersed between the concert performances, are short off-stage footages of Christina Aguilera with her mother, the fliming site of "Come On Over" music video, and other miscellaneous stuff, very much similar to what's found on her 1st video.
As a Christina Aguilera fan, I have not regretted a single bit buying this video. It is a MUST-HAVE if you like Christina Aguilera.
