Excellent portrayal

I am a Christian and I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. Honestly I became a bigger Gary Oldman fan because his Pontius Pilot role was so well done. Honestly I think he gives the best performance. There was very little I found not to be enjoyable. You think you have seen the story enough but then you see this version and you know you haven't.

One of the best 80's movies

You know how cheesey many 80's movies were. This one is an exception.Risky Business is about a teenager who kind of goes wild when his parents go out of town.Joel befriends a prositute and that's when the fun begins.Joel turns his house into a brothel for the weekend.Fun,interesting, and good characters.

Blade was the best, where is the sequil to top all sequils?

I think Blade was quite possibly the worlds BEST movie. If I could, I would give the movie 100 stars. I have seen the movie over 30 times, I own the book, soundtrack, and DVD. This movie NEVER gets old. I hope they make a sequil, and knowing Snipes, it will be another 5 star movie. Tell me when it's out, i'll be the first in line to see it........

A Classic.

I gave this film 5 stars not because of the quality of the film or technical brilliance (which is average) but because of the situations depicted and in particular the on-going unmatchable dialogue and one-liners that Eastwood delivers flawlessly. I loved this movie and watch it over and over. Example: (grundgy, aggressive, hulking cellmate) "Hey Jarhead, if you want to pop that puppy's can (referring to a young boy Eastwood is talking to) you don't have to grease him so hard." (Eastwood) "Well now, you sound like a man of experience." Funny movie with one of the best actors around (Eastwood).

how much longer must we wait?

I found this show quite by accident during a night of channel surfing. After that I watched it every week. I have since moved to the UK where they are still showing Season One. I have already purchased Season One on DVD and have been patiently awaiting Season Two and possibly Three. American shows are on over here but are slightly behind. I get the DVDs to keep up. PLease release the next seasons!!!!

"Pig in the City"-Not for those who loved "Babe"!

Here are the facts, quick and dirty. I'm a parent who has watched "Babe" dozens of times with my three-year-old. Every time we find something new and interesting in the video and always smile and feel rewarded that we have watched it again. It's a very special movie.
On the other hand, if you are expecting the same experience from "Pig in the City", forget it! It is full of "gothic wierdness", sudden, unhappy (or frightening) events that shock instead of humor, and an underlying theme that is way out of line with what the original "Babe" was.
This video leaves you feeling startled and even somewhat anxious. I do not recommend it for toddlers.
Who gave this thing 4.5 stars anyway?????

Fargo - movie DVD cover picture

Just like "The Big Lebowski" this movie is the one you can watch over and over again, many-many times and you won't get bored. Early works of Coen brothers like "Blood Simple" and "Miller's Crossing" were very good, but "Fargo" is an absolute pinnacle of their career to my opinion. Because what they are doing now is not awful of course but they are regressing for sure.
At first glance "Fargo" is a small movie - small cities, small people, small problems. But it's the Coen's genius that turned it all into a brilliant, smart, ironic and inimitable masterpiece. I've never been to Minnesota but to me the film seems so vivid. It's one of those rare occasions when you forget you're watching actors play. Here you watch real people who don't play at all - they live on screen. And they live funny. Every character here is so laughable it's hard to understand whether filmmakers laugh at them or pity them. And let's not forget it's a criminal film. This is one of the Coen brothers' gift - to make serious funny and absurd.
Dialogs are just awesome, I can't recall a movie which could compare to "Fargo" concerning dialogs. Maybe just "Pulp Fiction".
Definately a piece of cinematic art. Besides a very good edition with interesting documentary in bonus features.

Get it!

This is a great movie and the extended version makes it even better. The quickest four hours you will ever spend watching a movie. The extras are cool and it is hard to believe this is the last of the series. Don't stop there, read the books!

Rosemary's Baby - movie DVD cover picture
A classic horror flick without overt horror!

This "horror flick" is perhaps unique among the genre, because there really is no horror contained in the film. But not to worry, this is an engaging and scary movie that the whole family can enjoy. My 12 year old daughter was initially skeptical that she would like the movie, but in fact was enthralled. This is an intellectual horror film with a fascinating premise and fast-paced storyline that never loses the viewer's interest.

Cassavetes turns in a very good performance as Guy, Rosemary's (Mia Farrow's) husband, who cuts a Faustian deal with the devil at the expense of his wife. This is an interesting psychological thriller-chiller film that leaves a lasting impression on the viewer. Rather than grasping the viewer's throat like most horror films, this one plays with your mind, and it is great fun.

This film is a very faithful adaptation of Ira Levin's novel of the same name, and it is good to see a film which essentially takes no liberties with a good novel. More films should take this approach.

The DVD is a good crisp reproduction and is a thorougly enjoyable viewing experience. Recommended.
