3rd time reviewing it: clearing things up

OK, after reading some of the reviews that have been posted since my last one, I feel obligated to clear a few things up.
First and foremost, to anybody who keeps referring to this as the "original" TMNT: this cartoon series was NOT the first incarnation of the turtles! TMNT started out as a black-and-white, PG-13 rated comic book series created by Peter Laird and Kevin Eastman in 1984, 3 years before the original cartoon ever premiered. It was definitely NOT something for young kids to look at due to the amount of violence and general content of it, plus ALL the turtles wore red in that one, not just Raphael; the only reason they have different colored bandanas in the cartoon was so children could distinguish who was who. It was this series that about 90% of the first movie and the current cartoon are based off of.
Next, for those who are totally confused about Dregg: Dregg is an alien, meaning he's not from Dimension X. He's in no way connected to Shredder and Krang other than when he pulled them out of Dimension X in the hope that they could help him defeat the turtles in a 3-episode story arc in the last season of the cartoon. He didn't totally come out of the blue either; in the first episode of season 9, "The Unknown Ninja", Dregg makes his debut when his ship (the Dreggnaut) enters our solar system. He's a fugitive of war and trying to find gold (for what purpose I don't remember). One thing leads to another, and he and Hi-Tech make plans to sneakily conquer Earth, and of course the Turtles come to the rescue.
Now, what do I actually have to say about this particular DVD? Not much since I've already reviewed it twice below, but I will say this: given the reaction of some of the people who bought this and their disappointment with the content of the DVD, I have my own personal hopes that this was nothing more than a market field test to see how much people wanted to see this show on DVD. I think it worked out pretty well, which brings me to my suggessting to Artisan if they're reading this: give the show its proper "season set" treatment including a basic cover art layout that can be applied to all future sets, more appropriate bonus materials such as old toy commercials et cetera, and, while it might be impossible to do, a complete remastering of the audio and video, including replacing the modified/muffled version of the opening theme with the one where "Heroes in a half-shell" isn't distorted (it exists, I have it too).
This release still deserves all 5 stars regardless.

Tae-Bo Workout - movie DVD cover picture
The BEST one out there!

I've been doing Tae-Bo for four years now! I lost 40 pounds in about 4-5 months! Of course I had to eat better than I was. I got so focused into the workout that I didn't realize that I was working out. It was pretty fun- for a work out video. The best thing is that it's challenging. That's probably why I'm still doing it today. When I reached the point when I could do the advanced with out trouble or even a water break, I felt like I could do anything I put my mind to. The wieght loss crept up on me because I didn't weigh my self all the time. For 2 months I never weighed my self, because I was having fun. I got on the scale about the thrid month in and I realized I lost 20 pounds. In the past few years I've bought other workout videos, I used them maybe for a month- on top of the Tae-Bo, but I kept going back to just my Tae-Bo video. I have some advice- start Tae-Bo with the mind set of just shaping up and having fun. Take it slow, and get used to the moves. It took me about a month to really get good. Tae-Bo is the best thing I'm doing for myself.

Felicity - Junior Year Collection (The Complete Third Season) - movie DVD cover picture
What a sting in the end....

After watching the series from the english perspective, i missed part of season one, so waited for that to be released, found Kerri Russell and co to be honest actors (exclude Javier, if you have seen him you will understand, good actor/wrong show) They battle through life, love and loss. The scene from season one on the tube/subway between Felicity and Julie, is one of the most memorable scenes ever. Watching her life grow and fall apart, only to recover, revenge and live life again, never believing that her relationship with Noel will ever get the credit it deserves, leads to the third series, with a twist, which after seeing most of season three on UK tv, i have waited patiently for this to be released on dvd, to see what happens at the end. There's a twist, that doesn't fit with the normal lifelines, but what changes occur somehow undermine the story as it is so far, and the lives of all, but i never caught the end, so wait to see the outcome of a truly emotional piece of work by actors, directors and script writers, and the music put to this Felicity life, is as the story runs, memorable.

Great movie, great transfer, too bad there's no DVD extras

My absolute favorite film of all time - and finally in DVD format!!! Could life get any better?!It's a great joy to at last be able to view Auntie Mame's trailers, and the picture quality provided by DVD is a great improvement over VHS. But enough of the technical stuff - let's get on to the film!I don't know quite where to start in singing the praises of Auntie Mame - the humor, the message, the music, the costumes (oh, God - such wonderful costumes - Orry Kelly's best), everything - timeless in its charm. Rosalind Russell is just amazing - her portrayal of this legendary character is perfection itself. And her supporting actors are just marvelous, as well - Coral Browne as Vera Charles is tremendous. And whoever says that the role of Ito is an embarrassment takes life too seriously. The film flows beautifully, and makes one wonder, "why does this ever have to end?" One can easily see that the film is based on Patrick Dennis' stage play, complete with fade-outs, but that doesn't take anything away from it. Rather, I feel it adds to the charm. If you haven't seen Auntie Mame, please do so. If you haven't seen it in awhile, have another look. And if you've just seen it recently, isn't it worth another viewing? This film is just that good - timeless humor and touching soul. My only question is...why on earth did they have to go and create that monstrosity with Lucille Ball? It brings down the integrity of this film, a real crime. Please consider purchasing this DVD, even if you already have the film on VHS. The special features are really great, and the picture quality is improved immensely. Also, if you haven't read the book, definitely give it a chance. I think it's even better than the film - there's so much to it that just couldn't fit into the film.

Grit and determination

I doubt if any of us can imagine the hardships during this time at sea. The movie shows the grit and force of will men had to posess to travel half way around the world and still fight a war with nothing but the belief in yourself and the men around you. The movie is evenly balanced and shows the way of war and the human cost involved. Well done!

A nice addition to your collection

This movie is quite different from those of you who have just started watching the Gundam Wing series on the Cartoon Network, but it stacks up quite nicely. It starts out with a young boy living in the colonies at year "After Colony 079." He somehow manages to find a Gundam and pilots it to save his people from attacks from other colonys. It's a long movie, but for us Gundam fans, we wish that is were longer. By the way, I payed $5 more for it at a store, so don't pass up on this offer!

A truly great movie.

One of my favorite movies. There are so many great scenes. The opening is jaw-dropping beautiful. The scene where Ellie runs to the medicine cabinet is one of the top ten scenes in the history of the medium. Perfect.

Equilibrium

Hands down, an incredible film. Period. Not just an incredible genre picture, but an incredible picture. Especially in this day and age of studio homogenization of their films, this picture stayed true to its obvious roots.
An amalgamation of futuristic sci-fi/mind-bending action and moments of tear-jerking drama, this one is a very enjoyable 2 hour distraction. Hollywood failed this movie in not rightfully promoting it to the ticket-buying public but word of mouth will not be contained. It's already on my 'must buy' DVD list and I'm sure many MANY more people like me will be looking forward to picking this one up in May.
Disregard the nay-sayers who shove this off as a Matrix clone. I'm a huge Matrix fan and went into Equilibrium without any pre-conceived notions and after viewing it I realized I'd seen something so distinct and different emotionally than the Matrix that it was a crime to connect the two films.
See this film, then make your judgment. You won't be disappointed.
