Should be rated a "10 star" movie

Believe it or not but I saw this movie by accident. I woke up about 5:45 one morning and turned on the TV and "Once Were Warriors" was showing. What an absolutely WONDERFUL movie. The acting was so real and the story just touched me so much. It's one of those movies that you think about for months to come. I'm off to buy the movie now.

Very,very funny!

OMG!I wasent going to buy this video becuase Im a so-called "new" fan of Blink. But I was glad I did,it was worth every penny! This video has interveiws, concert footage, behind the scenes, and the guys makeing fools of themselves. The humor in this video is kinda like MTV's "Jackass".Yeah there is a lot of swears and sex related things. This doesnt surprize me at all,Blink is usually like that.It also has 4 videos(VHS version).Like I said Im kinda a "new" fan so,even though I heard their older songs like Dammit and Josie,Iv never seen those music videos before this. But when I did,I was rolling on the floor with laughter.(And no,Im not trying to be like Mark)Blink-182 is now my all time favorite band. And not just becuase there songs rule but they have a great sense of humor.I only wish I learned this sooner. There is one draw back in this video, why couldent it be longer?!The video it self is only 52 min and I crave for more every time I watch it(even though I only watched it twice)But I wouldent recomend this video to anyone under 12.(Im 15)I was afraid my mom would come in when Tom was masterbating or something.Oh one more thing, yes,it is true there is extra footage after all the credits and blackness,it takes some time but dont worry its there and worth seeing. So if your an old fan or someone who just started liking them(like me)buy this video!

A Fractured Fairytale For All Ages

Based on the book by S.Morgan Stern, The Princess Bride combines drama and humor to create a Medieval (or is it modern?) fairytale that anyone can enjoy. The all-star cast (Cary Elwes, Robin Wright, Mandy Patankin, Christopher Guest, Chris Sarandon, Billy Crystal, Andre the Giant) make the movie pleasing and easy to get involved in. This is one of those feel-good movies you can watch over and over again and still love.

The Women - movie DVD cover picture
Women on the verge...

This is one of the best films that I have ever seen about the emergence of modern women in 20th century America. It would work nicely as a companion piece to The Graduate. I, in fact, use both films when teaching a class on the role of women in 20th century America. The ending to the film, The Women, never ceases to amaze the young girls in the class...the idea of Mary throwing open her arms and welcoming back her wayward husband is shocking to most of the young students. It is certainly a period piece and certainly well worth viewing to see how few options were open to most women of the era. Putting everything into an historical perspective, it is difficult to believe that this was filmed less than two decades after American women were given the vote and only two decades prior to the Women's Rights movement actually kicking into high gear. It really is a wonderful depiction of women who where stuck in the middle of a changing society and how they were having to adapt and change in order to move onward.
As was noted in one of the earlier reviews, this film was made with an entirely female cast. I wouldn't swear to it, but I believe that I read somewhere that Cuckor was so obsessive about that fact that he even insisted that any of the animals who appear in the film also be female. That may have been Hollywood publicity, but it does make for fun viewing and an interesting anecdote.

I'm 16 years old and I can recite everyline from "White Christmas"! It sounds funny and unbelievable, but it's true. Ever since I was a little girl I watch this movie like a million from thanksgiving to new years. And I never get tired of it. But then again how could you?! The songs are great and it's such a warm movie. It wouldnt feel like Christmas with out...

Three's Company - Season Four - movie DVD cover picture

I was really looking forward to Season Four because it's when Don Knotts joined the cast as the swingin bachelor Ralph Furley!!! Don't get me wrong I enjoyed the Ropers, but they ran their course. The storylines were also alot funnier with the inclusion of the maneating Lonna! They had the perfect love-triangle, Lonna lusting after Jack, and Mr. Furley lusting after Lonna.
Although I really enjoyed this season I didn't like the way they made the character of Chrissy just too dumb. When Suzanne bleached her hair to an extreme shade of blonde and wore those childish ponytails she looked even more stupid! It was a sad downfall of her once funny character. However I thought Joyce DeWitt looked even better and was alot funnier in season four.
Well, it's a little bittersweet to write this review because John Ritter was the true star of this show and was even funnier this season. I still can't believe he's gone, and I find myself determined to collect every dvd of his body of work to preserve his memory. I look forward to the release of the show Hearts A Fire on dvd that John Ritter did with Markie Post. He also did a very touching Danielle Steel tv movie called Heartbeat, co-starring Polly Draper that will be released on dvd soon.
In the meantime I will savor and enjoy Three's Company season four until season five comes out in October!!!

Ran - movie DVD cover picture
King Lear in Japan

Ran is a great film for anyone who has not seen a Japanese foreign film or who never not yet seen any of Kurosawa's work.
Loosely based on King Lear mixed with a good dash of Macbeth, the story revolves around a warlord, and his sons who conspire to control his fiefdom. The battle scenes are nothing short of miraculous cinematography. Since there is little dialog and a lot of fighting, this film should appeal to people who normally hate subtitled or foreign films. There is also a completely wonderful Lady Macbeth character who goads her husband and sons into revenge for her clan's annihilation.
Once you get a taste for Kurosawa, other films such as Seven Samurai, Sanjuro (kind of a sequel) and Rashomon are good ones to follow up with. Kagemusha (Shadow Warrior) is similar to Ran and also a late Kurosawa work.
