This is a movie with a lots characters and Stories, but you wont get confused, because it has a great script, that make you care for each character that appears on screen. There are all kind of thing happening in this movie to give a good review of it, is a lot like the movie GO, if you liked that movie, you will like this one for sure.

Doris at her most energetic

While Love me or Leave Me and Pajama Game are my two top Doris Day performances, the one I love for sheer joy is Calamity Jane. It prompted my first fan letter to DD. We have remained friends to this day. This film is nothing but total fun and Doris singing Secret Love still stands out as a great today video contender for a great singer and the ultimate Movie Star turn in a movie. It's obvious to see that Doris loved the movie just as her many fans did.

Despite the far-fectched plot and random happenings throughout this movie, it was still a comedic genius. Chris Rock is truly one of the funniest men ever, and this is one of his funniest movies. I reccomend it to anyone who wants a good laugh.
This movie is about a black Washington DC alderman (Chris Rock) who is chosen to run for President and lose. Together, him and his running-mate/brother (the always funny Bernie Mac) set out to foil the people he is running for and acually win. Well I'm not telling you the outcome, but this movie is hilarious and inspired. SEE IT NOW FOR A HUGE BARREL OF BELLY-LAUGHS!...

for comedy lovers, not soap lovers

I'm quite amazed at some of the reviews, as if the number of shows is what determines if something is good or not. On quality, I probably enjoyed the 5th season the best, as I watch the show for its comedy not for its soap. The other 4 seasons were all built around Carrie's self-absorbed (boring) love affairs. This one dispensed with that format and so we were spared the only part of the show that I don't like. However, if you watch the show for its soap opera dimension, this season was definitely not for you.

Horatio Hornblower - The Boy Begins to Be a Man

In the days right before the French Revolution, British ships sat in harbor, their crew and officers bored stiff. Men drank and prostitutes came on board to entertain, while the officers were forced to entertain themselves with cards and learning the ways of the sea and the ship. Young Horatio Hornblower (Ioan Gruffund-102 Dalmatians) was thrust right into the middle of it. As an aspiring mid-shipman who had never been to sea, Horatio had to learn quickly and overcome his seasickness as well as his fear of heights. A good-natured lad he quickly made friends ... as well as a very dangerous enemy. Still sore from having his commission for lieutenant rejected, Mid-Shipman Simpson decides to pick on Hornblower who is obviously much better mannered and better liked by the rest of the officers. After getting severely beaten for nothing, Horatio determines to put an end to Simpson's torture of him. Challenging the wicked officer to a duel, Horatio faces two paths ... will he kill his opponent or will he be killed? Horatio Hornblower, The Duel is the beginning of a long tale about a young English Officer in the British Navy who goes from a boy to a man, but never once loses his integrity, honesty, or honor. I enjoyed this movie for its accurate portrayal of the life of a British officer in the navy and for its clean cut characters who are honorable young men with respect for their betters, for each other, and for themselves. Joining Ioan Gruffund in the cast are Jamie Bamber, as Horatio's friend Archie, Robert Linsday, as Captain Edward Pellew, and Paul Copley, as the loveable old sailor Matthews. The story is taken from the classic series by author C.S. Forrestor.

My Favorite of the Trilogy

This was my favorite of the three Apu films, perhaps because it has the most time without prolonged misery. This film was much easier to watch than the first. If you had trouble with that film, I would recommend you first watch the 2001 NZ film Rain before moving onto this film. Rain was obviously strongly influenced by Pather Panchali.
By moving us slowly though Apu's life in the three movies, Ray shows us the world as it appeared coming out of a small rural Bengali village. In the first film, Apu's father ventured out of the village, but the cameras never did. In this film, Apu makes it to medium sized towns, and eventually to the Bengali Manhattan of Calcutta.
If you enjoyed these films, I would recommend looking up the 1960 film "A Cloud-Capped Star" by director R. Ghatak. For a look at an upscale Indian life that Apu would never see, Mira Nair's 2001 hit Monsoon Wedding is a nice antidote to Ray's brand of Dravidian misery (although I recommend watching it on DVD with the English subtitles on to ease understanding).
As to the DVD quality of Aparajito, its really no better than the VHS tapes readily available, although its nice to see that the film is at least getting some attention. Ray's "Days and Nights in the Forest" (1970) and "Distant Thunder" (1973) are also long overdue for restoration and re-release.

Stellar Show

I don't know where the editorial reviewer gets their views from, but he or she should have their eyes checked. Yes, this is one of the many attempts to get you to buy the series piece-meal. Yes you should buy the two-disk full season, its better that way, and more economical. But the series is incredible. It is an excellent show, with excellent graphics, and amazing writing. The voice cast stands out also. And anyone picking on how fast he changes into his costume, should have their brain checked, its a cartoon for cying out loud.

Best of the bunch

This is by far the best of the three Potter movies to date. Yes, this isn't a "reading" of the books on the big screen, but instead is one truly great film that stands on its own merit. The acting is superb (for the most part in all three films), the cinematography is breathtaking, the mood and pacing builds a perfect sense of wonder mixed with dread, and the art/set design is the most twisted, beautiful, and magical of any HP film.

THE Musical, As It Should Be Presented

"West Side Story" is proof that the sum of its parts can not only be greater than the whole, but possibly be the greatest!

Little known writer in Elizabethian England pens a drama about two star-crossed lovers. Flash ahead to the turbulent streets of New York in the late 1950s and early 60s. Turn feuding families to rival gangs. Add music, choreography, make it vital. Then find a brilliant director who knows what to show, and watch as it takes home every Oscar it can.

We know the story of this film but what's important for you to know about here are the extras you get in this package that make it worth your while: The first disc is the film, preserved perfectly. And the second disc has your special features.

First, you get a great documentary on the making of the film. Titled "West Side Memories," Principals like Sondheim, Moreno, Chakiris, Beymer and more sit before the cameras and explain the process of preparing and executing what could be the finest example of the Hollywood Musical, ever. It's a piece that's could have been a stand alone DVD, it's so rich with insights.

You also get an interesting "Storyboard to Film" montage, where you see the artist's renderings of the scenes, and how those shots looked when they appeared in the film. You get to study these storyboards more carefully in several galleries on the disc. Lots of other goodies, like the theatrical trailers and photos galore... everything from Jerome Robbins's cattle call for dancers to location shots during production!

And if that wasn't enough, there's a massive book that comes with the set, that includes the complete script of the film, the original lobby brouchure that theater patrons who attended the film received, which has more photos and info, and the newspaper clippings lauding the film as it took its place in movie musical legend.

It's simply a valentine to a remarkable film, and a fantastic package, all the way around.

Highly recommended.
